My sisters boyfriend spent almost as much on a prepackaged tent kit than I’ve spent building out a 9x12 hybrid sealed room with CO2 burner, minisplit AC and 1440w of led light. Plus his kit came with a trash overpriced blurple. Putting together your own is way cheaper. Get one of those smaller HLG quantum board lights (or an alibaba clone if you wanna save even more.) Get a decent fan like ac infinity with a proper sized carbon filter, some ducting, clip on fans, pots, soil and nutes and you’ll be good to go. Depending on where you live you may need AC or heat but that’s the basics.

Yah have a full store. Cheaper fans are ok but cheap tent are shit. Spend extra $40 and get a Mammoth Pro. Much nicer zippers and thicker shell.

If you don't want a tent but do DIY get some 2x4's and build a tent out of them and black and white poly. Maybe cost you $40 do NOT get 2x2 framing lumber as its glued and will break.

Light is key. At least 35 watts a foot. I use 50.

A tent is nice as it keeps it all...right there. The light, the smell (an issue), noise, the bugs and pests out, which also means no pests in the house not just the grow.(If I want to end growing, I need pests to fall into the wifes food.)

Get a cheap tent and a mars hydro ts600 or 1000 you can swing it ts600 119cad and tent 100 and get a fan later you need the heat and humidity for seedlings and veg.

So you only need to get 4-8 ounces per harvest?

If so buy a new tent for 100 bucks off Amazon I'd go 3x3 or atleast look for a 6 ft or taller 2x4. I used a 2x4 for years as well as 3x3 and the 3x3 is only one more sq ft but feels like a lot more room cause it's taller and unless you want to spend a lot of time learning lst or scrogging the height is needed.

The rest of the stuff id buy used if I only needed that little bit of weight and wanted to get started.

Everybody is hot on these white LEDs now so blurple LEDs are cheap and honestly prob easier to grow under than the whites I never saw near as many as many people bitching about cal mag or temps being too low with blurples.

You gonna want 250-350 actual watts of led if you with blurple in the 3x3 or 200-300 watts for a 2x4.

I'd buy a 6 inch inline fan if you can find one but you will need a speed controller. I say 6 turned down instead of 4 inch so you can actually pull thru a filter if you get one. Also bigger is better for fans.

The rest is kinda up to how much you want to spend and how successful you want to be. Don't spend a ton on your first setup cause you will most likely upgrade, just cause it's kinda addictive like that. Then you can use the small tent and blurple for veg. But hitting 4 ounce isn't hard and 8 is possible. I had a buddy just pull 320 grams out of my old 3x3 with a vipraspectra. Prob misspelled the name but you get what I'm saying. You don't need to invest a ton if your just looking to grow a few zips for personal.

Search Facebook marketplace and Craigslist for used equipment, if your Mi by chance hit me up I got some used stuff none of it really suited for that small of a space but I like helping people out and it would be a good deal and I'd take text or calls if you need help.

I'd leave those ones outside and start fresh I meant Michigan when said mi. Battling bugs is a bitch and u don't wanna bring em into your new setup.

If you are in a legal state I see shit for sale all the time on Facebook marketplace just clean everything real well if you get used. Even when I wasn't in a legal state I'd see stuff for sale on Facebook and Craigslist just not as much to choose from.

Good thing is your goal isn't very hard, 4-8 ounces doesn't take much to grow. If your on a real budget I think there is a micro grow section where they talk about cfl and screw in led bulbs and maybe some florescent. While it's hard to get much weight with those home made lights they use i don't think it's out of the realm to get 4 ounces.

Back in the day I had some buddies grow some great quality weed under a t8 florescent, wasn't much weight but quality was there. Once you get a few runs in and get the itch to expand and have some experience that's the time to drop more money on a setup.

If you have the money it's not bad to have a small tent and light to veg with if you do decide to upgrade. And you were on the right path with what you were first talking about. But if you don't or that's a lot of money to you don't go broke just to grow some plants, just get inventive and use what you can find or build cheaper.
