PM? I didn't or haven't seen any pm in the past. This whole situation is crazy. I've been doing this for almost 2 years and have changed environment, nutes, letting the flowers ripe up, drying in optimal conditions, 5 different strains and still get the same result every strain taste the exact same (terrible) I just literally took some off of a dried plant and rolled it and smoked it and straight black ash awful taste bullshit. Shit this point I'm about to just say screw it and give up
Try organics! Not saying synthetics produce bad bud that’s not true. Just in my experience I’ve never grown a harsh organic flower. Good luck!

Nice thread. A lot of good information in less than 24 hours.

I've only experienced true "black" ash a few times (three?). The only thing I found that was in common in all three instances was it was during winter months and RH was hovering anywhere between 35-48% during the dry process. Even with low 70's for my temps, these instances I saw the plants (chopped down as whole, not separate branches) dry in less than 5 days. The bud was not dry and not wet, but you could just tell that moisture didn't seem to be distributed evenly throughout the larger nuggies. Even after 7-14-21-35 days of curing, the smell and taste of the bud improved but the burn quality of it never did. Even three months later, it still would burn black.

90% of the smoke just seemed to never "cash". You could almost hit the bowl 15-20 times and there would still be black ash in the bowl. I would just hit it as many times as I wanted and eventually, just stir the bowl and dump the black ash out in the corner of my tray. Once it got to be too much and got in the way, I would just dump the black ash in the trash. lol. I'm stupid.

One of those times I fed molasses with my last 3-4 watering's. Not sure if the black ash was worse that time or not. I don't think there was much difference.

I had one SSH plant which had a lot of tar(?). I have no idea what happened. I had several ssh growing from seed and only one did that. Never happened before or since either. It literally clogged carbon filters and tar started oozing out the side of the filter. I'm also pretty sure the ash was dark.

It's pretty bad when he even laughs at my posts where I'm helping newbies. Talk about obsessed.

Ok I want to ask a serious question? Before I ask this I do understand that flushing does nothing but harm the plant. Ok so I have had multiple answers to the questions I've had about black ash and everyone says it's not dry or it wasnt dried correctly. So alot of the answers is that black ash is from moisture still left in the flower but my question is how is that possible when my bud was so dry that it literally crumbled when touching it. When I smoke it its black ash and taste awful. I even found a bud in my flower room that was left out for a month and still black ash. I have tried everything from drying for 14 days and curing for a month. The only thing I can say is my thought is that it has to be build up nutrients in the flower. I have no idea what to do about this. I've been struggling for about a year and a half with this. PLEASE HELP
Gaseous nitrogen has no taste or odor.
Ammonium nitrate is also odorless but tastes like shit.
I suppose it’s possible but very unlikely that your plants have so much ammonium nitrate in them that you can taste it.
I think it’s more your drying process. It sounds good on paper but that doesn’t mean anything.
Black ash is certainly a poor dry result. Nothing to do with nutrients.
I believe your unwelcome taste doesn’t have anything to do with nutrients either.
You have any pictures of your bud?
