Maybe it's time to give them a haircut?
Maybe Just be, Maybe.
But it would be quite an undertaking because I would have to take off the scrog screen.

Things are getting pretty turbulent for me right now and I am looking to move ASAP . If I can get another job anywhere else but the south I am taking it immediately. I have applied to like 5 jobs today. Hopefully I can finish up Blue but if things have to move fast she might not go full term. I am just going to work with my set up like it is and make daily fixes as needed. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I need some good luck right now.

I'd do everything I can to not have to remove the screen but I'm not sure what I'd do. Hopefully you can come up with something that'll get you through. I wish you the best of luck and I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you.

Remember this pic of Scottyballs' roots:

Crazy! Yeah I think even though it’s seemed more helpful having the extra Rez it has actually caused more problems then without it. It might be easier just to disconnect it at this point. That would be easier and haircut of the roots .

Thanks so much. I hope I get one of the gigs in California. Palm Springs or Inglewood or Riverside. Call me crazy but anything but this bullshit Okie and Southern mentality . These people are seriously fucked in the head and so very uncool.

I'm battling the same thing with mine, not sure what the answer is. Maybe just find something to plug the tube where it comes into the res and then water like a normal waterfarm?

Bummer to hear about your job struggles, keeping my fingers crossed for you. You should come to Alaska, cant get any further from the crazies in the south....

I was thinking a small screen might help at the exit of the bucket into the tube , but might not either. I think pushing the roots back with my paint brush handle is the easiest quirkiest solution.
I was thinking Alaska but I’m scared of those big moose and bears that roam the streets. But I love salmon and could eat it everyday. The seclusion would get to me after a while. I lived in Hawaii for a year and don’t like that kind of trapped feeling . Had a coworker from Alaska and he won’t go back because of the isolation and showed me videos of gigantic moose that was circling his house. My anxiety levels would be off the charts. I am finding lots of new jobs and keeping my options open so who knows. Can’t be too picky these days with this fucking pandemic screwing everything up. Luckily I am in healthcare and see new jobs daily.

Doc,
It sucks that your troubles with Blue have re-surfaced.
While I was researching different grow methods, before my first grow, I was really close to a RDWC. (I went with E & F instead.)
In all those threads, one of the main themes is the issues with roots clogging the circulation pipes. The common solution is to use bigger, (like much bigger) (like 1 1/2 to 3 inch) piping.
I understand that this would be quite an undertaking to replace your pipe from the waterfall to the added reservoir, but I think it could be done with the SCROG net in place. ????
Just throwing out an idea... Trying to help.

Sorry to hear about your life situation. That blows.
Might consider Illinois, 420 legal now. And no Moose/Mooses/Meese! LOL

Hang in there, and stay safe!

Hey, read alot. A waterfarm thread would be extremely helpful. I help out my buddy with his coco grow. but he has a room and so on. Im doing my first solo grow with 2 waterfarms in a 2x4. Looks great BTW!
Good luck, I'm on my first grow period and I originally had 2 in my 2x4. One turned hermie and it was probably a blessing because I'm running out of room with one in each tent.

After my last water change, I had an issue with my drip ring too on the newly designed Waterfarm. I had been cleaning the ring of salt buildup with each change-out and during re-assembly is when I had inadvertently messed it up (by pressing down too hard). The fix was much easier than you'd think and had everything to do with properly spacing the inner white tube in relation to the ceiling of the drip ring assembly. Basically if you compress them too much, it seals the gap and prevents water from flowing through the rings but if you gap it out, the flow picks up. Glad you figured a workaround

Hi Willie,
I never had this problem before.
I took off the extra res And have this dysfunctional drip ring and squiring hole
For
Now. I’m just gonna ride it out like this.

I did just apply for a job in Decatur Illinois. I wouldn’t mind living in Illinois at all but the pay sucks. I found another one I applied for today in Houston Texas and they got back to me already for a phone screen and I bet the pay will be decent and no income tax. I wanted to get outta the south but Houston sounds pretty fun at least for a couple years. It has an amazing reputation for cuisine and diversity. Plus I haven’t lived in Texas before and it took me like 6 months to get my work license to work in the state when I had to pick up a day gig in El Paso when I was living and working mostly in New Mexico.

you stay safe as well!

Blue is looking awesome! Really starting to take off into flower bloom.

Yeah I found that out as well. Then I went and drilled out the hole and now it’s all messed up but i still have it dripping. I wish they didn’t change the design , that was dumb .

Looking great DAT!!! Haven't had any issues with the drip rings, but the roots seem to be an issue. Glad to hear your work prospects are looking up. My plant is a sticky mess, trimmed a few leaves and my hands were coated. I think I should have been a little more liberal trimming branches, I have so many tops they are all fighting for space, but I think the stretching is about done. What I ride!!!!! Had no idea what I was in for....lol

Thanks, yeah it’s too bad about the drip ring and unless I have the res filled to peak then it dose not even drip at all. I have to open the tent back up during her lights out and top her off. I am going to see if I can find the old style drip ring somewhere online and try to order one.
the more I think about that job in Texas the more I don’t want to even consider it. I really don’t like the south at all, nothing about it. So I’m going to be patient and hope something north east opens up soon. This is such a shitty stressful time to move but my lease is up in July so it would be the perfect time to move.

while trimming a fan leaf yesterday I accidentally cut a string on my scrog screen. Luckily when I designed this one I did all the strings as separate. It was an easy fix. But if it was designed like the others I made as one continuous string I would have been royally fucked.

I am still tucking and branches trying to get a nice even canopy and she is responding well!
From the looks of this picture she is really shaping up nicely !

it’s day 23 Flower.
Lights are off in this picture. I’m kinda bummed I set my lights off all day because can’t open up the tent on the weekend until 4:20 pm.

I dread that ever happening since I'm using one looong-ass piece of string.
Yeah , I am surprised I never cut it before. I am getting to be such a sloppy gardener and need to make my set up accident friendly. That takes a lot of forethought. Things I use to do in finding don’t work so well anymore. This will most likely be my last Waterfarm grow. I am going to go with another type of hydroponic system like. I want to be able to purchase the set up and not make a DIY if at all possible.

What kind of system are you thinking about switching over to?

I’m lookin around and really like a few of my friends here set up. I really dig JZS147 and Laughing grasses. What do you recommend?
I'll have to check out their set ups when I get a chance. Based on my own experience, all I can recommend is GH's PowerGrower but that's probably too Waterfarmy for you since it's pretty much the same thing with a slightly larger res and top chamber.

maybe it would be better then the one I have now . I’m willing to try a different style.

I haven't used the original WF but it does have some other features that the original WF doesn't have. In three of the corners, there are staking points that would allow you to insert lengths of PVC piping into. If you're creative enough (and I think that you are) ..you could use those internal staking points to make a base support for a scrog screen that would allow you to remove the screen and the top chamber all at once. I'm thinking about doing something similar next time around. What I did the last time around was drilled out the bottom of one of those staking points and I used it to add an additional air line. I also used that hole when I needed to top up the res. Here's what the top chamber looks like. On the bottom of the chamber are 3 more staking points that get buried under the hydroton.

And here's someone's removable scrog screen using PVC in the PG. A little smaller than I'd want it to be but you get the idea.
