I just got this idea on how to make the roots spread horizontally to increase yield.

its a seemingly ridiculous applicaiton that looks like a 5 year old could have thought of it.

tell me what you think of it.

So you would fill the pvc with soil?

why not just plant it in the soil. then it has unlimited space.

I would say like a 45 degree angle would work well....i think it may just be helpful...I think you would want to use larger size pipe like 1 1/2....makes me wonder. my question is....is spreading the roots out really gonna help vs onw rootball...

awwe, that plant looks so cute. how do i get my pot leaves to look as cute as these. Im gonna increase feeding to a half inch brush, and put away the eraser tool. I had some eraser burn from a really heavy saving as. I flushed with an edit undo and now i just waiting for her to recover.

it seems like you would effectively be reducing the pot size by alot. With your shit you may as well just get rid of the pot and grow in tiny ass pvc tubes. dosnt sound real effective

the more I think about it you could just do it in four inch pvc and have an enclosed system without dirt around it....but also the more I think about it...the more I realize my plants are doin fine just like they are.

I've just recently come across some information that I've proven, in the field, that if you spread the roots out horizontally, you get a fatter bush, and a BIGGER YIELD!!!

yes the PVC is full of dirt, but the whole point was a system that i am GOING to make a fatter plant, with bigger buds.

i can, probably, get it down to a science of how wide you want your plant to be, how tall (for people with height limitations), and how it affects yield.

I'm going to go to the store today and buy some PVC, get them all together, and replant my "tomatoes" to see if in the next two months i find a drastic change between one plant with it, and one plant without the PVC.

i don't know why people are fighting this, rather than watching for the results.

roots naturally grow down more than out, and any grower with experience should know that the leaf structure follows the root structure. (IE wider roots spread = fatter plant)

everybody just needs to calm down, no great discoveries are made without trial and error, and I'm gonna do this all on my lonesome anyway.

you got me watchin buddy. one exception to that rule is a cactus...but other than that i think it could be good for people who FIM the shit out of their plants till they have a big ass bush. so I shall keep my eye on this one

y dont u use that in a dwc system to keep the roots from tangling with otheres if u make the pvc biger and longer and hook air stones to the bottom of them? thats alot of oxygen they get and water. im just brainstorming btw.

Interesting, approach. In the past, I have always just dug a huge planting hole, filled it with a very loose, rich, organic soil mix and planted. But over time all soils compact.
If you put your really fluffy, light soil in the pipes it would be protected from compaction. The roots would grow at good angles to increase stability, and they would be encouraged to go deep - where the water is at during draughts. I'd also give them a shot of Mycorrhiza Fugi - the pipes would then get completely filled. It's interesting & productive stuff. I included a hotlink. P.S. - lot's of people buy this stuff for major bucks from the big hydro fert. companies. You can get it on Ebay - Organic Plant Tonic - made by BMO - cheap & effective. Like $ 10 cheap.
