Hurricane?
Nothing like that. Just a low that is going to hang around out in the Gulf all week. There was four inches in Destin yesterday, and I've got about a quarter over two days. I checked on a couple of patches today that were really needing some rain. It rained good here at work again today, and it was just a quick shower at the farm.

Lots more wildlife on the hikes this week. Walked up two quail going from the 3DT patch to SEE and JP patches. We have so many coyotes it is rare to see a large covey of quail these days.

Saw a damn deer under the soft pear tree on the way to the Deer Ate CP1, then walked up about 10 wild turkey 200 yards later. About half of them flew away to the south where I got a good look at them. The other half just flew into a fast run and headed deeper into the pines. Turkeys can move fast for such a big bird.

My Daddy killed a wild turkey on the wing with a single shot .22 on a foggy ass morning when I was a boy. The turkeys flew, he turned and shot just as they were disappearing into the fog. Shot him through the head. That has to be partly luck, but you have to be in the neighborhood to get lucky.

A few of my seeds are starting to show hairs now. {@ 13 hours 19 minutes of daylight today} Not sure which one this is, but it looks like I might have got it a little hot on my last feeding.

South Louisiana is one big marsh at the moment, flooding all below I-10. Glad I am where I am.

"The National Weather Service has revised the crest for the AMITE River at Denham Springs. Projected crest is now 46 feet.
If you live along and West of Hwy. 16, GET OUT NOW!! Same with the Baton Rouge side, Stevendale area and along a line south of it towards Old Hammond hwy needs to GET OUT ASAP.
This is a catastrophic life threatening event. We cannot stress this enough folks."

I had a systems failure with my rain catcher. Was still able to get 25 gallons out of it with buckets.

I did a little improvisation. Will take whole thing up and start over with a better tarp soon. But for now. . . .

Earlier in the week when I went to check on the PH patch, I went a different way. Came across some more of my family's drug dealing past. Picked up a couple more gallon jugs just a few yards from here, but had already packed my camera away.

Cooking shit back there or what?
My Daddy, his brother, BIL and his daddy made whiskey until they got busted in the late 50's. Pa {my granddad} took the fall, and did a year and a day in the state pen in Tallahassee. Crazy to think he was allowed to keep his pocket knife because he worked on the state farm while he was there. Daddy went to Tampa for a few years to work, then came back home right before I was born. Never made whiskey again though. Most of our 200+ acres were bought in their whiskey years, when the money was rolling in.

oh the banana spiders of florida ive had alot of run ins with them geurilla growing there dont like them
Lots of times you can back up and the web will pull off your face without coming down. If not, you are pulling that sticky ass web for a few minutes. The smaller spiders will hang down and you won't even know they are hitching a ride until you bend over and they swing free so you see them.
