Had a 5 pack feminized Cali
Connection 818 headband. Well two were completely males. The other 3 are all Hermies between half male and half female. This strain is very unstable. I am ready to just cut them at two weeks into flowering and take a lose on 5 week veg

Usually, when people say a line is "unstable", they mean it throws off a lot of different phenos.

I think you're saying this one is stably hermaphroditic. This one is what. . .sour diesel x OG kush? In general, sour diesel genetics are known to be hermie prone, so this doesn't really surprise me.

FWIW, I just grew out a plant that started off as a female then started throwing out male pods at 2-3 weeks flower. I plucked them off and with 8 more weeks flowering, they didn't return and it turned out not to be an issue at all. Sounds like that probably isn't going to happen here, but if you're not growing anything else that these males can contaminate/pollinate, it might be worth the gamble. At worst, you can always kill the plants a bit later.

Also, as a suggestion, maybe you could post a picture of the hermies here, as evidence for the "skeptics". Males too. . .and I have to say seeing ANY males from a pack of so-called fem beans sucks big time.

Yeah, so two questions.
1) Where did you buy these?
2) Did you take pics of the full on male?

I'm definitely not doubting you, the Blue Dream Haze I grew from tCC was roughly 50/50 flowers of both genders, and I have no problem believing that he doesn't test his gear.

I just don't understand how he's so bad with this, especially the blue dream since other breeders offer blue dream s1 without these issues. What the hell is he doing to consistently cause herms in most of his lines, it's really strange. He has the opposite of the Midas touch everything he touches turns into a shemale.

I got a couple clones of 818 hb on there second run now 1 hermied but after I plucked the sacs the first time they never came back I'll see this round if it was my fault or what but so far I'm happy with the sour Tahoe cross just grow it the best you can with as little stress if possible

Well, I haven't seen many Blue Dream S1s out there, actually. There are a bunch of reg crosses out with it as well as feminized, though. And there's a bunch of different ways to produce feminized seed, some people think some work better than others. This is why Soma just lets his plants run long until they produce male flowers, but I think most breeders use one of the various chemicals that cause plants to herm, such as colloidal silver. Honestly, I think a lot of other breeders just do better testing than tCC, and maybe catch the bad match ups or herm heavy males earlier. I've heard more than one breeder hypothesize that the reason there's so many herms on the market these days is that too many breeders don't know what they are doing in male selection, and pick males that are incredibly vigorous and overloaded with dominant genetics. I'm not going to weigh in on that either way, except to say that I agree that you should look for mostly recessive traits in male plants.

No pic of the male. It's already composting lol.
Got them from the attitude. So far other beans have been good to go from that seedbank.
Well, the Tude definitely ain't gonna bait and switch ya, so that's definitely ruled out.
The percentage likelihood of getting a male from feminized seed is so low that getting more than one in a five pack is super unlikely.
What's much more likely is that tCC is running not the most airtight of operations and some of their dreadful (I've grown crosses with it, it sucks, end pof argument) male SFV pollen got all up on the female; or they just mixed up some beans.
The herm, well, that's fucking Cali Connection for you.
Chem, diesel, and OG are all tricky lines, but at this point I would grow from anyone else (other than rez) with those genetics before Swerve. Dude may have the genetics, but he has no game.

Thanks for the replies. Helped clarify some things. So if you can help I was thinking about the gentic passing of traits on a forced to sees female. Let's say we ran a plant we really wish we had cloned but didn't. If one would let it push past ripeness into it forcing seed how would the traits carry on?
