Alright trying to finish trellising. Last week for serious topping, most plants are starting to stretch or will be soon. And of course never ending thinning to keep me busy. The bigger plants have filled out those 300 gallons. Probably should have top dressed some compost last week or so, think I'll feed and keep more in control of what they're getting. Bubblegums and apecheese have slowed growth a little as they ran out of food and are starting to stack up, probably see some popcorns in a couple weeks.

Yea this is my first round in the PNW, Im really anxious to see how much more vegging they do, and when they start stretching. My biggers ones are prob 4 foot tall 6 foot wide canopy's though due to supercropping.

Im hoping weather allows me to take them to mid October...none of my strains are climatized to the PNW, and have 2 sativa dominants, and a few hybrids that have longer indoor flower times...will be interesting thats for sure![/QUOTE mine are starting to stretch,and change.. kinda early this year it seems, maybe its the moon cycle idk, or weather

So I do have one casualty this year. Stem rot in one of the smallest plants actually. I describe prevention and treatment here,

I think it's a combination of factors, overwatering being one. This plant actually grew by leaps and bounds and outpaced just about everyone else, it is also a clone that I bought, so who knows how long it's been around and how much stress it's been through. It started getting cracks and splits in the main stem as it expanded so quickly. I might be able to limp it along but even though it hardens back up, the damage is done. A little too much water and it gets worse again. Probably could use eagle 20 or some other toxic product, but I'll just write it off to sacrifice for mama nature if it comes down to it.

I should have taken a picture before I put that black microbe mix on the stem, but I was leaving the next day for a few days so did what I could. I'm going to paint on a liquid sulphur mix to the stem, which should help prevent rot from spreading, in theory anyway. It's cool and wet in the PNW, so probably not such an issue for you growers mendo and south. I think this plant has evolved to grow in gravelly poor soil, so when they start to get big the plant really changes and in a way are more sensitive to the environment. My theory anyway, also stresses add up, maybe viruses or otherwise compromised immune systems, I don't know. I'm probably doing seeds or "young" clones for my outdoor from now on. I did take cuts of everything in the field and will keep the good ones and hopefully they perform well indoors.

That's a beautiful garden! I've never seen stem rot before. That's crazy it got such a huge plant. Sorry for that loss. But the rest are rocking for sure.

Thanks! Yeah always keep an eye on the weather forecast and know how much water the plants are getting. I'm using a dirt mix that is denser than what I'm used to, so that played a role in the overwatering as well. Really though it never drooped from too much water, just the opposite, it grew super fast. Looking at it as another chance to learn how to treat and/or prevent this situation.
