Looking to see if anyone knows if its possible+safe to run an external fan controller on the Can Fan Max Fan Pro 6" or 8" fan?

I have it on its lowest setting (1), but find its still a little much for my tent.

With the external can I reduce the power to half 1st speed and run safe?

You can but the fan needs to be on the highest setting and the controller needs to be a voltage stepping controller according to greens. Ive been running the 8 inch with a rhino controller turned down to 2 and havent had any problems.

What chronnie49 said.
I have a different brand which is pretty much identical and have also asked the same question of other fan manufacturers, they all said have the fan on max which negates the speed controller so you can then use another speed controller to have more control.
My fan had 3 speeds with the controller built in, set on max I could use a 5 step variable transformer speed controller and slow it down more.

Thanks guys, I have access to a classic Speedster controller, Ill try that dialled lowest on the 3rd speed (max) and see if its any lower than just the 1st setting alone without the controller.

I dont believe the speedster is a voltage stepping controller so you might want to check with Can to see if it will damage the fan or cause it to hum.
