Can I finish my girls in 3 gallon containers or SWITCH to 5 gallons?

My girls are about 45 days in veg and preparing for the 12/12 flip but I'm wondering if I should transplant to 5 gallon containers from the 3's they're currently in to allow space for the roots to grow as I know they're root bound at this point.

I have 6 plants in 3 gallon containers in a 3x3x6 tent. My feeling right now is that they need to be transplanted but I'd really like to get some advice from some seasoned veterans of growing.

Thanks for the info y'all.

there porbably to big 6 plants in a 3x3 crazy i run 6 in a 5x5 under 2 600w hps and thats cramped after stretch. in 5 g buckets plant will get huge prob to tall for your space i would only put 3 in there max imo

lol

i started by only putting 8 plants into my 5 by 5 closet. mostly because i kept reading about how crowding was bad. i'm a contrarian. before i got legal, i used to run 16 to 18 plants in 3 or 5 gallon grow bags in my 5 by 5 closet. i always crowd the hell out of my rooms. i like lots of variety in my genetics and i have a lot of crosses to try.

under 1000 watt, i was pulling mid 20 OZ every 3 months crowding the room. crowding might not be ideal for some circumstances but the plants do just fine with some rotation every few days.

these were just flipped into flower. it's a 4' 9" sq tent. they will be a large mass of colas and buds in 2 months. with my 600 watt, i pulled 17 oz last month. i'll pull about the same with this batch.

be contrary some day. you might like it. :)

i have tried it this way many times its more trouble then its worth. u could put 15 plants in there wont yeild anymore than 3 big ones 17zips off 1000w is good but not great i have pulled 24 off 1200w. max ever was 30 but that was big bud but smoke was meh . but im not saying your way dosent work but its not "better" i like massive buds not mid sized ones. plus your increasing your chance of bug and mold problems when cramming to many plants. yeld = watts used and strain not plant numbers

nope, 17 oz off a 600 watt. i was getting mid 20s with my 1000 watt. different strokes brother. i'm just saying that when i see someone say that crowding is bad, i must interject. :)

Jeeze louise man...y'all know I'm not gonna have 6 females out of this batch, right? I'm hoping for 3-4 max w/5 gallon pots. I've damn near been tempted to veg out my 2 confirmed females under a scrog net for another 2 weeks to fill out my tent. I'm very well aware that 6 plants all the way through is too much for my space....I only intend to take 3-4 to flower. 2 more females and jonny is happy and the rest will be eliminated.

As far as veg time, I've actually vegged about 43 days so far. Not exactly a short veg time but I had them rootbound in 16 oz party cups far too long initially that inhibited growth. Also, once they go into 5 gallon containers (3-4 max), they'll be lst'd at a minimum and possibly scrogged....we shall see. I'm waiting another 7 days after transplant to see if I get another couple confirmed females. At that point, I'll eliminate the males and bush out my bitches to maximize yield.

i would do your transplant 2 weeks b4 you switch to flower. i was taught not to transplant in flower. it will slow your growth down due to the shock of transplant.
