Can I switch LPs?

To be registered with a new LP I will need to begin the process from scratch it seems. I will need to fill out an application and send it directly. My doctor needs to fill out a new application and send it directly to the LP. Both sets of applications go through the LP approval process which includes confirmation from the particular province's college of licensing physicians that the prescribing physician is still in good standing (every app needs this -- and even for LP 'preregistered' doctors), and then the applications are sent to Health Canada. Health Canada approves the application and the LP finalizes the process with the patient. I think that covers the it, did I miss anything? Also I connected with Organigram and they are doing 'milled' too because of low inventory until Marchish. Are any LPs holding their own in this mess?
Its just the one milled product. They call it sweet leaf. The rest of the selection is all bud.

Ok my buddy just told he the one from Goodard is for 20 grams on a regular presription pad with nothing mentioning MMPR. He paid $100 for it.

You can go to any doctor as the visit, at least in BC, is a private visit and not under BC Medical. So you could go to 10 different docs that same day and get 10 prescriptions.
not sure that is the route to go....a doc that will sign for 20g/d like yours is a better option

I would think that HC would have registration in place to avoid this very thing, like with narcotic Rxs? That's why that HC step made so much sense to me.

In my Dr Bintley sing up all he did was take a copy of it and said the info would be forwarded to HC as required but its up to me to contact the LP and gave me a list with all the LP's at that time. No one told me or I read anywhere that I can't get 10 prescriptions from 10 doctors on one day. If HC wants to talk to me they are more then welcome, they're the ones who set the system up.

Why are doctor's forwarding info to HC again? Where in the regulations does it state a doctor must forward information to HC?

Wow. This is all really enlightening and frustrating.
OK here goes...

Under the old program (MMPR) HC was heavily involved. You got their forms, took them to a doctor and got signed up for x amount of grams provided you fit HC's definitions. Lots of paperwork. Then you sent the forms to HC and they took their sweet ass time approving you and sending out your licence called an ATP. You could also get a grow permit PPL or have someone grow it for you DPPL.
Lots of paperwork.

So...all sorts of problems and hassles and eventually HC came up with an idea of all patients should buy from new federally licenced producers LP. They took away the patients grow rights and their designated growers. It went to court, and is in a sort of injunction limbo that will be resolved this spring.

This new program is called the MMPR. All new patients have to join the MMPR.
HC made the regulations, and controls, inspects the 14 licenced producers. HC doesn't get involved with the patients anymore. The only interaction is to collect ATPs from LPs if the patient handed it in.
Why a patient would ever hand over their ATP pink licence is beyond me.
HC basically washed their hands of the patients.

So you're a new patient...here's what you do;

Go to a doctor and get a "medical document" ( there is no govt official form ). On this document the doctor will state the grams per day that you are entitled to, and the duration...max is one year.
You can get a medical document for insomnia or whatever...
There is no max on the g/d a DR can write whatever they want. 1-3g/d is what most are comfortable with. This document can be given to you ( and should be ) or it can be sent directly to an LP, provided you know what LP you want to buy from.
You have your document, now you fill out an application with an LP, send in the document.
The LP checks to see that the dr is legit with the provincial college of physicians.
The LP checks with the dr to make sure the document is legit.
Once those two checks are done the LP contacts the patient to tell them they are approved.
Then you order you mmj.

The LP can only ship 150g per shipment.
The patient can only carry 150g maximum.
The max you can do is with a script of 150g/d and use it all every day and have your LP ship every day...4,500g/month....doubt we will ever see that though.
The patient can get their doctor to "split" the document in two or three etc... for example, if you dr says you can have 6g/d, the dr can split that into 2 of 3g/d, or 3of 2g/d. In this way you can have two or three LPs providing you product for a total of 6g/d.

The colleges are keeping an eye on the doctors.
In the future I think HC will look at all the patients from all the LPs to make sure patients aren't double dipping ( no clue why they would! )

Hope this helps...feel free to ask any questions...

It's very fast and easy now....provided you have a willing doctor...might require some $$$

Thank you leaffan. This helps a lot and I appreciate that you took the time to write this out.
I forgot about switching LPs...

If you want to change LPs you are supposed to contact your LP and have them return your medical document. (some LPs wont do this).
Go back to the DR and explain why you are having to switch, get a new document etc...

BTW...an LP can drop a patient whenever they want.

Ah, I'm pretty sure then that Tilray will want to get rid of me asap. I will discuss with my physician before I approach them again -- I don't need to be fed anymore of their lies.

Do you mean 20gr/day? My old Rx was for 40 but I'm only allowed 5 with the new system.
This is complete bs and please write a letter to John conroy. It is totally unexceptable for a government with no medical knowledge of your illness to decide your quality of life!!!

Peace

I didn't get Goddard my buddy did, mine is from DR Bintley in Vernon (Gartree Medical Clinic) is for 20 grams same as my license was. I haven't use it as no way will I use an LP. Cost me $250 and a pretty nice 8 hours scenic drive.

I will be getting one from Gogdard but mostly to use it as my ATP since it was expired before March 21 and my PL was valid till Feb 2014.
Thanks...I was wondering if he stayed the same but i guess that was before the MMPR

I emailed him the day I posted, someone had suggested this already. I called his office and sent it to his personal email box. BTW, I opened a bud zipbag today to try out. It's Equinox and unless it is supposed to smell like dusty mold I'll be passing on this too. What a waste of time and $$. Thankfully I have options, I pity the poor souls out there who don't and have to use this shite.

Anyway. I want to thank those courteous enough to respond to my original post. Cheers!
You have any more questions pm me and I will help you out with what I now know having been through it all.I am currently a member of Mettrum and Delta-9 in which I dont use either lol.I just have for legal reasons of possession.I must say the meds at Delta9 are pretty good but until you get on the compassion pricing (50% off) its expensive for the good stuff.
