Can you plant/clone off of topping?

I topped a plant yesterday morning, and for the hell of it, stuck the top in a cloning cube. Low and behold it doubled in size overnight and two fan leaves started to grow out of it. Is this just a result of continuing to get water? Or is this a false positive? Will it grow a root structure and become another plant? Just curious...

Sorry... Nobody here is going to take you seriously when you state things like "it doubled overnight".

Not to be rude, but it didn't.

Growth will continue after it's cut if the conditions are right, but if you have cuttings doubling in size overnight you better get Ed Rosenthal on the horn STAT and explain what you are doing!

Yes. You absolutely can clone from a top and it's a very viable way to grow.

Depending on where I am in my perpetual grow, I'll put cut tops in my aerocloner as clones, and usually they become the most hardy and fastest growing ones of the bunch. If I'm past the clone aspect of a cycle, I feed them, along with all other healthy plant matter to my pet rabbit Gandalf.

Either way, they go to good use (Gandalf *loves* cannabis!).

My very first attempt at a clone was from the top of a plant. While I certainly don't cut them like this anymore I was very pleased with the results.

I'll post pics when I get home. It did get a lot bigger. Mostly the fan-leaves uncurling.

That looks awesome. I still have it in the cube right now, but I'll maybe move it to a small cup in a few days. It was kind of an experiment. I wasn't expecting much, and need to top a few more times soon, so I'll maybe throw those in cubes too just to see what happens. Better than pitching them in the bin.
