For led 480w and under it should be fine, higher wattage or Hid I’d go with a 6in. Remember you’ve got to control the climate in the room the tents in too. If you can dial that in before starting your grow it’ll be 10 times easier.

Do the math jedi, for a ⁴x⁴ tent. Rasta told me teach a man to fish. To give you a idea, I push ¹²⁰ cfm with filter, and still get negative pull. Negative pull is like a hospital enviro

From personal experience, I'd go with a 6" exhaust My AC infinity 5x5, 3 bucket DWC grow requires my 4" AC infinity exhaust fan to run 24 hours a day on speed 10. My tent setup is in a room in my basement so once winter hit I was good on keeping tent temperature down. I run a 600w HID as well. Was seeing 79-82°. It couldn't keep up with maintaing a lower RH when switching to Flower, before introducing a dehumidifier. A 6" exhaust would of solved a bunch of my issues.

Like @Lenin1917 said, the outdoor environment the tent is in, is of equal importance! My dehumidifier as well as my exhaust for the inline are all vented out of the room.

I just keep the fans maxed 24/7 passive intakes open maintains equilibrium pretty well.

Personally I would go with a 6’’ in-line fan.Yes negative pressure is what you want. Your intake should be 1-1/2 times the exhaust. So 4’’ exhaust would require a 6’’ hole.Just my 2 cents though.

When my T4 burns out I'll upgrade the exhaust to a T6. I'm also in a 4 x 4 but was told the T4 was sufficient. In the summer I have to run it at max level 24/7which can't be good for the motor long term.

TankHankeious, I don’t think it’s really bad on the motor, it’s the unwanted noise. That why I use a Grow right speed controller. You can find them for $20. I know with my fan turned all the way up sounds like a plane taking off.So I say for the win the 6’’ with a speed controller. Happy growl.

Running a T6 in a 3x3 on speed 2 with carbon. Pretty quiet in a silent room typically

I’d be damned if your T4 “burned out” anytime soon. Ball bearing motors last. I could be wrong but they rate theirs at 50k hours which is like 5.7 years when on for 24/7/365

Go bigger so it’s available if you need it. Also if you can fit and afford it. But I don’t think there’s much $ difference T4-T6. Relatively speaking
