I just received an email from high times magazine with a contract attached. A writer that is doing a column in the magazine about indoor grow environment wants to use one of the frog photos. It said that they will actually pay me $50 to $400. Im pretty stoked about the deal.
Is the payment for permission to "Use" your photo(s) or are they buying the "rights" to your photos? If they buy the rights, the photo(s) then belong to them and you will see no more money. If for use only for that one issue, you own the photo(s) and can make more money down the road if others want to use them in other publications.
If they want to buy the rights, set the price as high as you can...no pun intended.
My best friend is an attorney. I emailed it to him today and he said its a contract for use of the one issue. He called them today for a new contract with the exact dollar amount instead of a window. They agreed on $300. Not a bad deal. Free money.

Good deal bro! You still own your "art" (Yep, you created it and its photo art) and get some $$$. You can then make more $ if the pics are requested for use by other publications.
