This was my reply with pictures attached. I just messed up with my phone and it came out as quoted haha:

420 PPFD for 212w is pretty lousy intensity and efficiency.

But how does this make it garbage? Also the person I responded too said it was for O.P safety to not go with ViparSpectra, so I once again ask what make them unsafe and if PPFD is what you're worried about there are more in the VP range then 300w. Your inadequate explanation of faults with this product fail to make it not worth it.

Hey, fool. I used 2 450w ViparSpectras before my COBs. 89w of COBs outperformed 2 ViparSpectra V450s manifold. If you don’t understand PPFD, then it’s your fault you don’t understand why ViparSpectra is completely inadequate garbage.
If you can do more with 89w of COB than you can with 2 450w panels, and if two 450w panels barely get you 500-600 PPFD, why would you use underpowered Chinese trash instead of COBs? Especially when you can get a Citizen COB build for the same price or less in comparison to that shitty Chinese ViparSpectra panel?

1x ViparSpectra V450 (206w at the wall): 420 PPFD @ 12” above canopy
1x Timber 2VL (200w at the wall): 1013 PPFD @ 18” above canopy
600w HPS: 900-1200 PPFD
That’s why ViparSpectra is garbage. Any other questions?

Well he actually did man. When you talk about those lights it’s all about PPFD but i’m Not saying it’s completely crap as you can still get out some frosty buds (even @Olive Drab Green did that before and he was getting some good stuff) but with pretty much the same price or investing a bit more, you get something really worth the money as PPFD and quality components. Wattage it’s just to attract people who thinks the efficiency of the light depends on that.
By the way i’m Talking as a guy who just purchased a 600w vipar but knows that can still get something way better.

Fair enough. I’ll give the vipar a go anyway, just for personal knowledge/experience with it.

I got it from second hand for like £50.
I’ll post a guide about how to build one following my own experience (by the way i’m Not an expert but I got some help from my friend architect and another guy builder haha).
Just send me a PM and we can go through it as soon as I got time

I guess he did.. But I didn't ask about PPFD I asked why it was a safety risk to owning a vipar. Anyways... I've got vipars and have had no issues with them. I've even checked out the issues old Maye has stated and it looks to be the generic vipars not the pars. Each to their own... Cobs aren't that good imo but meh... What do I know I'm a MH and HPS grower that's just gone over to leds.

It’s not a safety risk, it’s just a waste of money and it’s completely inefficient.
If you think COBs aren’t that good and ViparSpectras are, no one should ever be coming to you for advice. Your “600w” ViparSpectra can’t grow you a pound. 200-250w of COBs will.
Since you’re familiar with HPS, let me put it this way:
600w HPS = 200-250w COB
