Ok so I have a 3ftx3ftx6ft grow tent which is 52 cubic feet right? I have a 600 watt mh/hps light with a digital ballast. I have the ligtht about 3ft over my plants and the plants are about 4-5inches tall. I have a carbon filter/fan combo on the top of my tent venting air through my filter and out the fan out the tent. the fan is 424 cfms and is on a speed contoller but I have a temp problem rignt now. I have temps ranging from 86-91F with lights on.....even with the fan on full (which sounds like a damn fighter jet engine) So the only choices I seem to have is put a damn AC unit there try and get a aircooled hood and some more fans or go CO2. I think Ill go COs but I need some help. I dont know what to do.... I have been reading and reading and reading for the past 7 hours on this and it seems pretty ok but I need someone to please just kinda tell me what system to get I cant make a choice. I am worried that the fan will just pull all the CO2 out the room.

Ok so let me fill you in....I have my tent in my room like almost right next to my bed, Now I dont really care about the noise. What I do care about is the fact that I paid like 250 for the filter/fan combo and I am reading to NOT USE IT AT ALL...... if I dont vent some heat temps would be at like 95-100 is this ok....

+reps for help

thanks

CO2 wont keep your heat down... it will increase it.

The reason being, is in order for CO2 to be effective, you must keep the content up around 1500PPM . to do this, you stop venting the room. in your case this will increase the temp as you would be turning off the intake and exhaust fans...

get an air cooled hood, draw air from outside the tent, through the hood, and blow it straight out the other side of the tent. NOT into the unit.

HI 3x3x6=54 & not 52 :-) but to your heat problem. I have had similar difficulties and solved it with "glass tubes (150mm dia) the bulbs mounted inside. A quiet fan sucking all the hot air out and a 150mm hole in the floor to suck the cold air in - CO2 will not get your temps down bud

I'm also awaiting with interest the newest development in LED lighting which I hope to try in about 2 mths. The heat problem would suddenly no longer exist :-)

uv got almost the exact same system as me ( mines is a little bigger but not much) and i have had similar probs, first off theres absolutely no reason to have ur extractor off, i cant understand anyone telling you this, it makes no sense at all, ur fan draws the hot air out of the tent and new fresh cooler air in, it reduces mold/bugs and lets ur plants 'breathe'. keep it on , although i dont know why it so loud, ive got two tents and both fans are ok, not silent but acceptable.
i put my lights on at nite when its cooler and the room temps are down that way thru the day when the sun is out my plants are 'sleeping' and the tents not heating up from the inside.
an air cooled light hood is a definite step in the rite direction although i dont have one at the moment myself i will be buying some.
open a window when the lights are on and close it when theyre off if ur temps are dropping during your 'dark' period.
i use a little cheap co2 setup, large coke bottle, hole drilled in top, 5 teaspoons of sugar , one teaspoon of yeast, 1/3 full of water, shake vigorously, stick in tent, repeat every week.( alternatively spend a fortune for a system that is of dubious worth, your call buddy)
another thing i have is a little 6" clip on fan that blows directly over the top of the plant between them and the lights, this helps blow the heat from the lamp away from the plant top and helps strengthen them as well.
an ac unit in your room will also help but again my solutio s are done with out really spending any cash, save the bucks for other stuff, like beer to go with ur smoke.

run a sealed bulb thru cool tube when the light is on. at night no co2. at night run a seperate exhaust fan thru charcoal filter all night to exhaust grow area. During lights on exhaust room every two hours for 15 min. Then after fan cuts off run co2 for 1500 for 15 min. Then in fan then co2 all day long. That is how i do it.

I tried it with no exhaust for one day. I got powder mildew that night. I ran it with exhaust only at night. Still damp inside. I then ran it like I told you. every 2 hours run fan then co2 and all night long. That is a dry room now. Still got to use serenade to get rid of powder mildew.

Another thing. I ran it at 1500 ppm and saw no results. So I ran it at twice that and i saw great results. That is just my room. I have a lot fo leaks in tent. I dont even use an intake. Just airholes in tent seems. This works.

In co2 rooms the moisutre is very real problem. Just exhasut thru charcoal filter.
