Cocoa mulch okay as replacement for shredded bark?

I am looking to mulch my containers and read that shredded bark (excluding walnut and cedar) are preferred. However, I was not able to get that locally but they did have cocoa shell mulch. My one worry is that it will throw off the ph of my soil since cacao is acidic. I read online that the mulch has a ph of 5.8. Would that affect my cannabis? I would only be using water and possibly added calcium and magnesium.

Has anyone heard of any mulch changing ph? If I was wanted to take precautions against ph change, would it be good for me to add some more oyster shell/ dolomite lime?

Don't worry about the mulch changing your soil pH. I think that stuff would work just fine.

I just use "fine" grade orchid bark. It works great, and you should be able to find it at just about any nursery, grow shop, Home Depot, etc, etc.

Yes, it is easy to find it labelled "organic". I wouldn't worry too
much about the labeling on this product. It's just softwood bark. They have no reason to add any chemicals to it. I've used the stuff from EB Stone (labelled organic) and Black Gold (not explicitly labelled organic), and saw no difference whatsoever.
