Collecting male pollen

I understand how to collect the pollen. Once I put it on my female, then what? Is she safe to leave in the grow room with the rest of my females or do I now need to grow her separately?

i would introduce the pollen to the buds you want and after a couple hrs mist the plant with water this will kill the pollen that might want a chance at the rest of your girls

wow nice although i harvested my pollin alittle different. i let my male get to mature, and when he starts to open some sacks, and has a shit load saks i take him and put him in a big boxs and close it up, and let sit, after about a week he will start dropping pollin, ill leave him in there and die, as this is taking place i will shake him and get all that i can off him. afterwards take him out of box and scrape the pollin up like a line of coke. big line lol. iv done this a few times and seems to work good. here he is in box

heres pollin

this is pollin off a auto flower, not the one you see in the box

I think people overreact about pollen spreading through the whole house. I grow in my back bathroom. It is a normal small half/bath type of setup. While I was growing three nice Alaska Ice plants last year, I had a male WW and female WW under the bathroom cabinet, approximately one to two feet away from the main grow. I tried to keep in isolated by covering the outside of the cabinet with a sheet. Once every day, I would open the cabinet to water and check the progress. Man, you can really smell when the male is dropping pollen. Very strong earthy smell. Once or twice a week, for a couple of weeks, I would shake the heck out of the male just to make sure it spread. I got mass seeds, easily over 600, on what was in reality a really small cropped back WW female (it had to be small to fit under there.) The resulting seeds were excellent. Even being this close, my Alaska Ice only had maybe twenty seeds spread out far and in between on my three girls. So while it pays to be as careful as possible, it isn't like the pollen is a heat seeking missile either. BTW, the Alaska Ice/White Widow cross was shit. Nowhere near as good as the parent plants.

I plan on using the method described at the beginning of this thread for my next project. This time, everything can happen outside the main grow room. What I like is I can really experiment with different branches, maybe pollinating each plant with three different types of pollen. I don't need 600 seeds in one shot. If hit the jackpot, you can always get more seeds from the same batch later down the line.

This is great info, I'm deffinately going to try this, I'm always looking for the cheapest way to get seeds. How long does it take to get the fem to produce seeds?

If you pollinate at the right time, I think the seeds will be ready to harvest about the same time as your regular bud harvest. I think it pays to let is go as long as possible, until the seed husks are popping open and you can plainly see the dark brown/black seeds. When it is really ripe, the seeds will almost be falling out of the pods. It does take a little longer, but not much.

can you re up the pictures please?

edit: i just found them XD for anyone who is intrested the pic is on the fifth page

Do you have to 12/12 the male to get him to flower and drop pollen? Earlier in this thread the original poster SEEMED to say that no, it would produce pollen 'on your window sill' - ie, not under a strict light regime.

True or false? Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

How early do u have to do this to get bulky mature seeds
If you selectively pollinate some lower branches, you can chop the top buds and let the lower buds continue until you can see the dark seeds starting to pop out of the seed pod. You do have to wait longer for the seeds to fully mature. I usually wait until I see a lot of the typical dark brown of seeds before harvesting. Like I said, you don't have to wait for the entire plant. You can selectively chop bud that is ready for harvest.

I´ve used a similar technique for some time now...works pretty well, doesnt it? I also sometimes pollinate different branches with different pollen...had barely any stray seeds...almost all were where I applied the pollen. Anyone else try that?

Hello could you send me the pictures again of the technique you posted? The photo links expired or something and I'm still a little fuzzy on the first couple steps..
Much appreciated post by the way!
