Nope no AC unit, The central AC that is in the room keeps things pretty cool I have it blowing down into a oscillating fan I can keep two 1000W HPS at 83 degrees with co2 using my Max fan and AC. I exhaust the hot air into the attic. I'm sure you are battling a lot of heat issues because even with two 1000's its hard so I can only imagine growing with 4
The room with 4 1000's i keep the AC at 68 degrees and it keeps the room a pretty regular 77 degrees. So yea, that AC is working HARD.

Next time i'll go with a mini split or a 18k btu window unit.

I know exactly what you mean dude... I thought it would easy with two 1000's after this grow I'm starting to contemplate using 600's .. I'm keeping my whole house at 75 degrees 24/7 and that combined with 4 fans in the room is keeping the room at 83 degrees.

i made the change to 600's in the flower room, when the heat hit 110+ in the last few days. Whew, AZ is a tough nut to figure out

Switching to 10-14 lighting schedule was the best thing I ever did for my rooms IMO. My yields are increasing.

I think as a collective group of hobbyists folks have lost track of the fact Cannabis dies great on shorter light cycles.

I've been also making this switch for summer heat. I haven't noticed bigger yields or greater resin production, but it lines the pockets with a little extra coin. I have been running a my veg 12 hours to help with this bills during the summer as well. All I do is run 12 hours on, 5.5 hours off, 1 hour on, 5.5 hours off. Never seen growth like this in veg. Maybe it's because of the extra rest they received. I only switch to 10/14 the last 4 weeks of flower.

my room is doing fine even these hot days havent messed it up sometimes it gets to 79 but that why i only use dimmable ballast , so sometimes i just take them off super lumens and brings me back to 77.. having the option from going from 2100 watts to all together 1000 watts with both lamps on and even lower if i turn off a light... dimmable ballast are the only way to go imo.

agreed bro. I have sometime dimmed my down to 750w sometimes even as low as 600w. My room has yet to go over 78 degrees but the way srp jacks up the prices during the summer, I have been trying to save all I can. It's not light on the pockets to cool 3 rooms...a 2k watt setup being the smallest :)

Yeah fuck the cost here. My electric bill last month was $830. :cuss:
Jesus christ dude how does your bill get that high?? My AC thermostat is at 75 degrees day and night, I have 11k gallon pool with two pumps/motors , that come on every night, I run two 1000W HPS 12/12 and my electric bill is in the high 300's - low 400's.

I have a decent sized house (approx 2000sqft) and keep my air at 78 daily. At night I will cool it to 75. I also have 2k watts in a room with an 11k btu portable a/c (keep that at 77) and I recently had the biggest bill which was 480. You must be in maricopa or on a mpower box because $830 is ridiculous. Sounds like you are paying $0.15 or more per kilowatt.

You are seeing explosive growth because the plants are stretching while they search for light.

Who knows. I thought my last house was bad ($350-$450 avg).

I have my thermostat set at 78 and it can't hold it, it is usually in the 80-81 range.

I live in a 4,500sf home. Two AC units, lots of lights, running the well for irrigation (it has a monster pump), etc.

Since having my indoor grow (2x 1000w) the fucking bill jumped a lot more than I thought it would since my AC can't keep up and runs most of the day (I am assuming this is a large portion of the increased bill).

However I never have a power bill here lower than $500/month. My record bill until the last month was $700. It jumped $300 over last months bill.

I would LOVE to be able to decrease my monthly power usage. I have been looking into the portable AC units for the grow room to cut the AC off back here. However I have no place to vent a portable AC. Anyone have any other ideas?

Yeah I agree, VERY ridiculous. Not in Maricopa. Unsure what a mpower box is. Does my bill show me what I am paying per kilowatt on average? I am going to dig it up and take a look.

I find them not stretching internodally but rather just expansive leaf size growth and it's good leaf that for me is easy to manage, not like that shit that you have to pick off that is close to the main stalk. I hate that. I am getting into flower quicker and with healthy and abundant budd sites, i guess im just plased enough with that. On the flip side im vegging with a lot of HPS now and some T5 sprinkled in. I find its got some really positive effects.

Are you running sealed? The max price of running a 1000w is 60 a month with the worst bills, but if you are making your 8 ton ac over work because you arent running sealed... you found the cause.

My plants are under 2 feet tall from the top of the pots so I don't think they are stretching too much lol. I agree with lucius that is a leaf growth as well as bud sites. I train my plants quite a bit to keep an even canopy but I'd have to say ever since I made that switch in veg, I am seeing about .5 -2oz increase per plant.

Edit:
Plus I save money on electricity. Not much but something is better then nothing. My girls seem to love that extra rest. :)

A portable AC will suck a lot of electricity too. I have my room sealed pretty good because im in the high 300's and my AC is always at 75 these days 78 during May but from here on out I have to keep it at 75..4 bedroom 2500 sq foot house.

I imagine it will suck a lot of electricity, but not nearly as much as my central AC right?

Any input on what btu to get on a portable?

Edit: The room is roughly 10x10 and is running 2x 1000W.

I think you are right because over the years with my 1000W in the sealed room my bill only went up like 50 bucks this year I added another 1000W and during my summer months last year my bill was 280 on average now its close to 400 because of the new 1000W
