Hey! I put my 2 seeds in a paper towel and placed them in a dark, warm place and they both cracked, i can see the white inside but for 2 days(today is day 3 since towel, but 2 since crack)almost no root outside the seed. I usually soak them first and sucess 100% but with these ones I directly put them in towels in a container with lid. Can you help me please??im so scared, maybe because I touched them? But i touch all of them…

Time will tell. Try planting directly into the media next time. Works just as well if not better as there’s no chance of contamination or mishandling.

Can always gently scrape the soil back if they haven’t shown face within 5 days to see what’s going on.

I just soak them overnight in tapwater with a little H2O2 added and plant them next day ─ it gives me better results than the paper-towel method did.

And while it's tempting to poke around in the medium for a look, you can easily damage the emerging shoot below...

Thank you!!! I hope they will not be my first seeds that don’t sprout

With the quick-soak method, room-temperature is fine...I always push them, pointed end up, 2 cm into the medium so that the shoot won't have the shell stuck to the cotyledons...heat from the lights does the rest...

I still think people that do paper towel germination played with tadpoles as kids
And what do you prefer when it comes to germinating? I’m new to growing, I’ve read about so many ways that i’m even more confused now. I know i have to find my way but for now i have to learn

Here’s what I do.

step 1
Prepare your small pot with your choice of soil/coco etc.

step 2
Water your soil/coco etc

Step 3
Push seed into soil/coco about 3-5mm deep.

step 4
Cover with soil/coco if you can see the seed.

Step 5
Water it again a small amount

Step 6
Light it up.

I did this last night with 2 new seeds ready for when my latest is finished.

step 1. Seed put straight in to the jeffy pot. Step 2 put then into the dome and 3 days later sprouts leave on their for 4-5 days. So far 100% germination rate

I did!
I just wasted 2 seeds planting directly into media. Turned to mush. Prob had my heat mat too high. 3rd I did my old trusty paper towel method and she's doing great. To each their own. Find a method you like that works for you and do it.
I just find the paper towel method pretty much foolproof

1- shake seed for a bit in my container that has sand paper in it to help the seed crack

2-soak in water for a day, prodding the floating seeds once and a while till they fall to the bottom of the cup

3-plant straight into media. I use a pump sprayer to water my little ones. If it's winter I'll leave a dome on them until they come up to help with humidity then I take it off after they break the surface. From here they are introduced to the fan which helps them not stretch too far and then are being treated like normal plants
