Curing pounds

it may be controversial, but you can cure in a frost-free freezer. ed rosenthal has some comments on this. It's worked for me in the past when i had to take a trip after harvest and couldn't burp.

here's the method:
trim fan leaves and dry 7-10 days until the outside of the bud is dry to the touch.

Place in open boxes in frost-free freezer for 21-28 days.

Move to dark/opaque containers for long term storage
note: you may need to burp once or twice in the first 48 hours after you take it out of the freezer, but generally its good to go right off the bat.

It is important that the bud be ready for a normal cure and placed in the frost-free freezer without covering. If you enclose the bud, the moisture will freeze inside the container and rupture the cell walls of your bud, creating nasty budcicle blocks that cannot be salvaged. leaving the buds exposed to the freezer environment allows the necessary sublimation process to evacuate the moisture from the bud at a controlled, slow rate (one determined by the rate at which the vacuum in the frost-free freezer operates to remove moisture and prevent frost buildup).

It's a bit scary the first time you try it, but it definitely works.

What's the cause of the hay smell? The buds smelled amazing when we took them down. We took them off the stem when we harvested and then ran them through a trimmer, they then went on to drying racks in a dark room with two fans moving air indirectly around the buds. It's only been 4 days but the last batch they pulled out also smelled like hay. The strain was purple gorilla.

Curing is not and never was needed.

Curing is about time and fuckall to do with enclosing buds in a jar, thats storage not curing.

Commercial growers would hang for a couple weeks and longer then vac seal, hill farmers simply piled the dried bud in their barn for 6 months to a year.

Bud takes one week to dry and another for flavour and taste, curing dosent make flavour and taste its there from the dry.

If your jarring at 7-10 days thats too early, needs two werks to fully finish. No wonder early jarring noobs are thinking the cure makes the taste and smell, they never learnt the two week hang dry.

Its actually quite simple but a lot of stoners generally manage to fuck things up and get lost in their own egilos and not the 2000 year tradition of making pure dank ass product.
What rh would you run for a 2 week dry? I did 55% for first 3 days then 60% for the rest. No fans besides an exhaust that is set very low.also temp is 17-19 Celsius. I’m at 9 days hanging, still not dry enough for jarring. Anything you would change with my current method?

I like them. We had to order a pallet of them to bring the cost down per unit. I think there were 37 on a pallet. If you get just 1, it’s like $265. But if you order a pallet, it’s $123 a unit. I just sold all I didn’t need for cost to some locals.View attachment 4613921
I’m debating two of these. I saw lids for plastic 5gallon pal are sold have a feeling that plastic curing wouldn’t help taste thoughts on that. I just cure 2-3lbs at a time

Will those lids fit on most buckets, like a paint bucket from Lowe’s for example. I’ve never seen those before but I’m damn sure about to order some.
I see the lids too but worried about the plastic bucket would corrupt the smell and taste. I grow 1-3 but two strains trying to get something without spending 260

So far have any of these companies produced actual science and data? Im assuming its just based on stoner stupidity like boveda and the whole humidity idea.

Not serious growers? ... you've gone and smoked yourself retarded.
Please dude, enlighten me what a serious growers room looks like because you come off as a knob when you say dumb shit like that.

The tubes are not plastic on the inside. There’s some sort of tin lining in there.
for me I purchased a couple lids from the. I have four buckets, I made my own to with some temp humidity sticks I have that work with WiFi. It’s more convenient for me to have it on my phone.
I want to take fan leaves off but bud branches curing why I trim. I think it’s smart my cost making my own is around 15 bucks and report on the phone.

My next gro is hydro jungle boys space center might match with Florida strawberry. Can’t wait

Gotta be be able to control humidity to hang whole plants 2-3 weeks.
They need lots of air movement at first, then gradually decrease to slow the process down.

If you overfeed your plants (especially phosphorous), curing won't fix that. The smoke will be harsh. :dunce:
