a little info... the new tops are coming in nicely. the stocks keep getting fatter, they are becoming beefy little plants that are starting to get branchy from the nodes under the topping. there is no signs of nute def. coming up to week 3 so maybe ill hold of a bit longer? and jebus the smell is becoming a bit much, i fear the day i put these babies into flower!

so what's the scoop when you LST? start by taking the main stalk and laying her out flat, and as branches rise above the main stalk you tie them down? repeat process until you create a "blanket" of green basically?

i think im going to leave the original stalk be seeing its only 4-6 inches and LST the new tops instead... how does that sound itll make an interesting looking plant i think lol

right on. so leave the main stalk as is, and just lean the new tops to the side, and tie down whatever shoots come from there?
should be interesting indeed.

yah tie the new tops down and let them branch off it should work seeing the new tops are a general extention of the main stock and should do the same branching

very possible, i grew with ff soil and there is so much in there that i never had to give veg nutes. eapecially with smaller plants.

Hey DW
As above, sounds like your soil has some added nutes so maybe you can get away without using your own. It usually says how long the food will last on the soil packaging. Remember that if it says 6 weeks and you cut the soil 50/50 with perlite then you'll only get around 3 weeks with it.

I just mixed up some of those GH nutes so I took some notes for you. US gallons are different to UK gallons so I used litres to make sure we are talking about the same thing.
My water was 45ppm and ph7.0 when I started.

1ml FloraNova veg nutes in 1 litre of water = 610ppm at ph4.0
1ml FloraNova bloom nutes in 1 litre of water = 620ppm at ph4.0
If you aren't used to ppm and you are in soil then a rough guide would be 800-1000ppm is full strength and should only be used on mature plants and 1/4 strength or 200-250 should be fine for the young guns.
A ph of 4.0 is a bit low so I use a little PH UP to take it to about ph6.

so about 1-1.5 mL per L of water? that looks like it would roughly fall in your ppm range. i thought it was done with my TDS meter after moving away from hydro, i guess i'll have to pick up some calibration fluid. thanks for the tip v12!!

ah ha! so with a little deductive reasoning and some simple math.. i discovered a solution for us US growers. 1 tsp/gal gives you (roughly) 775 ppm.
1 mL/Litre = 610 ppm

4 L = 1 gal (US) approx

5 mL = 1 tsp (US) approx

1 tsp/gal = 775 ppm approx

775 ppm sounds like a healthy enough strength for good, healthy soil (such as yours, or my FF Ocean Forest i plan to use). not to mention REALLY damn easy to measure. just get a gallon jug, dose it with FloraNova, top it off with water, shake and feed as per your schedule. that's my plan at least. every grow i've seen most make it through veg (in FF OF soil) without nutrients. most grows i've seen where they have issues during veg (deficiencies, nute burn, etc.) is probably because their soil was strong enough but everyone is convinced they have to add fertilizer or nutrients to the soil. if ain't broke don't fix it.
the only place i would think feeding is necessary (if starting with good soil) is during flower to give the ladies some umpf and really crank out the buds/trichomes.

that's my two cents. take what you need my brotha' !

thank you again, v12, for the much needed info.

'ppreciate you pulling up a chair to my thread... just read through yours start-to-finish and it looks great! Awesome cab and the ladies are looking nice.

It looks like we have a few things in common... space (I'm 1.5x2.5x3), big CFLs (3x105w), soil grow, using GH FloraNova nutes, and about a week or so apart in growth time.
Main differences would include I'm a total newbie, am growing a diff strain (auto blueberryxAK47), and have been feeding my 3 plants since seedling status.

There seemed to be a few questions about feeding amount and schedule in regards to the FloraNova nutes (or maybe I just misinterpretted because I'm stoned,). I found that on the actual GH site they have the feeding schedule charts. Here's the link: http://www.genhydro.com/genhydro_US/feeding_schedule.html?PHPSESSID=9cd977f968bcaab83ea10424afb1e637

Anywhozits, I'm checkin' in here @ the "Awesome Cab, big CFL, Wonderwoman" Motel... and plan to stick around for a while:eyesmoke:
