Pair that with the LRS-350-36 for 9+ Amps and run 6 veros at 1500

I'm confused...
how so, for each driver you can run 1 cob to max 1500ma at regulated 34.8V for 50 watts(CXB3590 example) and depending on how many cobs you have you multiple total wattage and then get a xformer to run them ie LRS-350-36 could give you 55+ watts per COB as suggested and then hook them to StormX or Arduino based controller or any PWM based controller for total PWM dimming control

Exactly... but I'm cheap... so was looking at the Vero 18 (last generation) at about $12 each...
In my small area, six of those would put out some serious light (even at 700 they would)
The 36v isn't enough to run the big boy cobs and the 48v version only delivers 7+ Amps so you might squeeze 5 out of it.
But this was the fantasy build I've been pondering since the news posting at Meanwell about the 1200H & 1500H LDDs

Not that Cutter would do such a build... but I'm putting it out there... someone might for a small 2x2 or cabinet.

No... 1 cob = 1 LDD -- Driver just delivers voltage LDD delivers Amps at whatever volts cob wants...
It's just CXBs like 36 v and there's a drop across the LDD of a v or two so you need to supply more
and when you go up to the 48v versions they have lower Amps to draw from with the LDDs (7 instead of 9)
Vero 18s I mentioned require about 30v and like to run high, they go to 2.1A and outside this project scope.

This is an alternative to the high voltage drivers like HLG and everything runs at 36 volts.

I am just going to toss this out there, for anyone that might dealing with something similar.

1. I am currently growing in space that is 21in x 21in x 60in (53.34cm x 53.34cm x 1.52m) with ORCA grow film on the walls.
2. I am currently looking at purchasing the four or five cob kit.

Going off of previous study into building custom cob lighting arrays...I can image the four cob kit will suffice to provide a target ppfd of at least 700 for vegetative phase and 1200 ppfd for the flowering phase. The five cob kit would also suffice to provide the targeted ppfd ranges and more for any future grow space improvements.

To anyone with competent knowledge on reaching targeted ppfd ranges... What are your thoughts?

5 3950s is more than enough for less than 4 sq feet. hella photon density! there are plenty of people out there with twice the space and then some growing with less than that.

correct the upside is PWM dimming control of each COB, downside more cabling, but with the 46v version you do get the extra voltage which you could run mono's with, pros and cons and yes we will be doing a Youtube reference build with these

please do a youtube video on this. I need the knowledge as I just blew up some LDDs trying to run a 33v volt load with a 48v supply. I guess they dont like all that extra voltage running thru them?

I think the biggest thing not covered so far is if those new LDDs are compatible with the current coralux boards.
Since they are H models and not the 1500L previously available, they were hopefully designed to be directly usable.
Only the 5Up board (in the 1.3 version) was designed for the 1200 & 1500 LDDs and DID use the L model.

If you use 2Up or 3Up boards (which daisy chain) the wiring stays local to the bar being supplied
and only need the power to cross from bar to bar. (Yeah fans and PWM too).
Again... I'm only talking small area builds... I'd want to put the LRS & Fan & PWM outside the grow area on a panel
and mount the LDDs on the bar itself. Bring the power and fan supply in on 5 to 7 conductor 18 awg sprinkler wire.
Dimming doesn't need anything heavy for wiring and could use cat5 or ribbon cable (anything with enough conductors)
but if the controls are outside the box it would make it so much nicer. I could dim them BEFORE opening the door.

Hi Growmau, I'd been thinking about this quite a bit over the last few days, having picked up my coralux unit and LDD 5up board from Mark @ cutters... I'll be drawing around the same voltage as you for my supplemental LED's (620-660-730 and 400nm) for first 3 of them but the 400nm will be a mere 12v or there about. So matching the power supply to the LDD's is my problem. I was thinking I'll go for a 36v power supply but looks to me like I may want to run a separate one for the 12v of 400nm from what you've revealed.

I see Mark will create a vid for us explaining the best way to deal with this.

Like to see some over voltage protection for our diodes as well, and is something I'll be looking into and may even put a thread up once I've gained enough understanding of what is required.

PS. Mark the CXB3070 BJB holders for the Angelina reflector have different drill patterns to the standard BJB holders, so unfortunately for me I'll have to build another light as heat sinks I used already had started to look like swiss cheese from existing drill holes that I worked around and don't think I'll be easily be able to attach them.

meanwell has some newer products out that are a bit out of my wheel house. I have not tested their DC step down products, but they do offer a 36v to 12v step down called DKE
that you can place in between your 36v dc supply and your LDD driver.

<OR> you could go the other direction and use "buck boost" products. you would use a 12v powersupply and boost the channels that require 36v. I believe you have to watch your dc currents pretty close and refer to the LDH spec sheet. (max input current 4.2A)

I want a six foot fixture that shines 360 degrees and gives all the goodness of cobs. I desire the diameter to be 3 inches. I would like it to run off 220 v.and have an eye hook for hanging off the ceiling.

I will check this but my understanding is all BJB use the standard 35mm Zhaga pitch on their holders, when I attached one last week it matched up to our 35mm pitch holes on the LPF11180?

Last time I was looking on cutter it was 44 euro for me and know 36 ?
Maybe becouse the new Bin is out ? Good times :D
yes we are reducing prices on CXB3590, not related to bin changes, just because you guys are helping us moving quantity and the benefit we are passing on to you, again appreciate the support
