Defoliation - removing fan leaves for higher yield

Definitely too much light if not running co2 will get ya. Does your light have a dimmer function? I use the photone app on my iphone and try to not exceed 900-1000 ppfd (on android there is a better solution which involves a cheap bluetooth par meter and some app). Any more and my plants will show their discontent at the colas. This run I tried my gavita at 100% and ended up burning the tops a little bit. My last run I ran it at 75% and was my best looking plants ever.
Yeah but it needed to be dimmed to like 50% to finish in peace in terms of temps and foxtailing. Better off just hanging a 2x2 light, IME lights made for 2x2 are a must so they don’t overheat and can be ran closer to 100%.

And yep, so I aim for lights that are about that ppfd which the electric bills will like. Im sure plants will grow same size buds and be happy. Hard to find on a budget, lots of hot centered lights to compete with more hot centered lights or high ppfd in general.

I notice HLG has those kinds of lower ppfd. I don’t know much about lights though, just a little bit of everything. Ive been using epistar fecida, about to get mars hydro for budget reasons, my first real light. Edit: the 2x2 is 5’ which is another issue, real short and need to grow short plants.

Because you see what you want to see. You need to read a book on botany.

You will NOT get an increase during flowering by removing healthy fan leaves. It is botanically impossible. Bud sites don't have enough photosynthetic material to begin to compete with large fan leaf photon collectors.

Do you have any recommended books to read regarding botany? What are your favorites that apply most to cannabis. Thanks. Just got a Paul Stamets mushroom growing textbook to sharpen my myco skills would like some other books too.
