DJ SHORTS BLUEBERRY compared to others...

I've only had the Berry Bomb twice, good taste and a similar couch lock to the original blueberry.

I think my DJ short "experiment" is leaning towards the original Indica dominant strain, the plants have grown two more sets of leaves in three days and are still not 6" tall yet! I have never seen so many plants look alike from seed. I'm going to have to switch to 12/12 quick because if many more than half turn out to be female I could get over run.......

thats what this whole thread is about. DJ short was the original breeder of it, and you can still get his genetics. Attitude sells them, but they are rarely instock, you just have to look around for the DJ short beans.

i've been underwhelmed by blueberry. the two times i've scored it, the flavor was weak and artificial and exactly like getting a single grain of artificial blueberry flavored sugar on your tongue. i don't like bitter fruits like BB either so it just doesn't taste that special to me. it was probably watered down by growth under sodiums though and might live up to it's flavor better grown under halides, just as DJ shorts himself as well as jorge cervantes and dr atomic would suggest.

the stony euphoric buzz much like skunk #1 and masterkush too doesn't wow me either. i'd rather get high on a motivational and psychoactive strain. BB is all about euphoria and stone from what i've seen so far. i alsi tried some blue widow thatwas fair, but nothing special either, but for the same buzz, DNA sour cream kicks BB's ass to me. the flavor, even under sodium is both stronger and more authentic. it reminded me of cream cheese with hints of sweet fruit yoghurt... very creamy and dairy with a little sweetness. i click with that flavor a lot better.

in general though, most people love blueberry and it did get top votes in another forum's informal favorites thread just a few votes ahead of ALL hazes combined, and these days, blue dream haze is still pretty popular.

if i were to get a DJ shorts strain though, it would totally be his purple grape krush! i like grapes much better than most berries, and it's purple color is breedworthy.

for what it's worth, these opinions are biased against indicas and bitter berries, but this is a democracy, right?
I
Grape krush is blue/haze genetics as far as i can see u would like it, creative stone, fast flower haze, great taste very smooth. Stick 10 growers down and give them the choice of 10 strains and most will pick GK after a cure for taste, smoothness.

Medical seeds has a strain called blue hell that is supposed to be orig dj shorts.

Variety created from selected original Blueberry from O.J.Short seeds, chosen for its production and its berries flavour. It is one of the best Indicas available.
Highly medicinal effect, with high CBD concentration and medium THC percentage.
Suitable for people suffering from physical or chronic aches. It is a safe choice for production and quality.

80% indica 20% sátiva
Veg Time: 2-3 wks
Flowering Time: 9-10 weeks
Yield: 450 gr/m2, if outdr: early Oct: 500-750gr
Height: 1.5-2 metres
THC: 12%-16%
CBD: High

I'm currently growing:
world of seeds afghan kush Ryder
green house ultra lemon haze and hawaiian snow and I tried out one blue hell .... My unbiased opinion, based on 6 weeks of growing is that the blue hell far surpasses the others in terms of growth rate and tolerance to the average growers mistakes (heat, over feeding, handling...etc)

the blue hell is 1 week younger than all three others and had been treated the exact same and it's just a absolute pleasure to grow. It's fan leaves are over 10" and it's stem is 3-4 times the size of the others. It's late, green, healthy, and beautiful. I FIMed it a week ago and it recovered ans sprouted 3 mains in 3 days...it's a tank. Not sure about production or quality yet but if it flowers and smokes in line with its performance thus far, it will be a winner.

I take photos daily and I would be delighted to post or email anyone interested.

Blue Widow is meant to be pretty amazing, can't testify to it myself, also Blue Dream is meant to be fire. These are blueberry crosses if I remember correctly.

I wasn't super impressed with Dinafem Blue Widow. Good yielder, quite frosty and has great bag appeal but buzz/effects wise it was clearly a weak link in my garden. Just a very mid grade type stone. It also doesn't have a very berry taste or smell. Smells kind of like rubbing alcohol IMO.

It has to be cured for 45+ days in the jar to get it to it's peak smell and potency. Big difference after a 45 day cure.

Here are photos of my blue hell by medical seeds. As stated above, have four strains flowering presently and this is, by far, the most robust of them all. It may just be the pheno but I will be cloning her to keep her around for a long time. It was planted exactly on January 28th 2013.

I'm counting on that one. Got my pack and I'm waiting for a few more weeks to start them. I want to go outdoors with them. I'm around the lower portion of the Great lakes. Do you have any input on my chances to finish these well outside? Any tips on what phenos to be on the lookout for? there is plenty of info out there about Flo, but it's harder to get good indepth descriptions concerning this strain. Care to share you experience reguarding Flo and Blueberry?
hey man, around 2005, me and some buddies grew some flo outdoors 50 miles or so west by northwest of Madison Wisconsin, started it indoors, threw them outside around the 25th of june at around 4 foot tall, and harvested them around late october as 7-8 footers around 2 lbs per plant...we took second in the midwest marijuana harvest festival in the outdoor division with it, and the one that won first we think was a ringer brought in from somewhere else hehe... it was everyones favorite weed wherever we took it...but thats cuz we dint share our white widow x flow plant, which produced nearly 5 lbs:) dig holes as large as you have the energy to, the bigger the hole, the more bowls, cant stress that enough for outdoor grows

Thanks for the info. I started my seeds about a month ago and I'm sad to say I got a germ ratio of 3 out of 10!! As far as I can tell, it wasn't my fault. At the same time I fired up 5 Mandala 8 miles high & 2 Mandala chill om with no problems what so ever. I will say that when these seeds were delivered, it was quite cold here and they sat in my mailbox for several hours at single digit temps. I'm not going to blame DJ because of this factor. I don't think that would be a fair move on my part. I will say that I must have gotten some kind of good Karma from that decision because the 3 that took off are all female. 2 that are sativa leaning and the other looks like any pic you've seen of young blueberry. Any pheno tips to look for?
