My grow room is good but not air tight... Will this matter?? and is back yard soil good? Mines got worms sand and no bugs

I was wondering the same question regarding the air flow in my grow room. Currently I am starting in a 3x4 closet with 2 seedlings. I have one 12'' fan but no ventilation for exhaust. There is one thing I know for sure though, backyard soil will not be sufficient. Your best bet is to take a trip to the hydroponic store and pick up a bag of Happy Frog soil of Roots Organic. If you are unable to get these products then head to Home Depot or Lowes and pickup a bag of Kellog Coco Core. It is completely organic and will work well for the first month of grow.

proper ventilation, good soil, and ample light will give you what you're looking for

so no, backyard soil will not suffice, i'd use the happy frog
the room doesn't have to be airtight , you just want to be sure the air is getting exchanged 3x a minute. so a 50 cu ft room needs 150cu /ft of air per minute, a 150 CFM fan exhausting would work, or even a fan blowing into it ghetto rigged might work on full blast

one issue i see overlooked is too much air, when plants get dried out too much, they constantly suck up water to try to regulate itself
this leads to watering more often, and the nutrients breaking down faster than the plant can use them, possibly burning them
also it can flush out whatever is in the soil that buffers the pH , such as lime.

with happy frog i will transplant a few days before flower so that way i know the soil will have enough buffering capacity until the end of the grow

Its important that a room is light tight but not air tight. Passive air intake is desirable to keep a good airflow. Also, I agree with the above that backyard soil is definitely NOT the way to go. You may not see any bugs but you cant see everything and guaranteed there will be bugs eventually from unhatched eggs, ect...that you cant possibly see. If you're gonna take the plunge and invest in a grow system, dont try to save a couple bucks by trying to grow in junk. Remember, the soil is the plants home, base, support system, and food source medium. Get yourself a couple bags of good soil and save tons of headaches later.

And there's your answers op.

2 types of rooms

sealed, you need to supplement c02

not sealed, you need to do air exchanges to replenish c02. oxygen is not needed as plants make it from the c02.
