dude, I don't think you can see weed on a thermal camera. Well, you can see it. but, don't think that they would know it was weed. When people talk about being worried of the heli picking up thermal images, its from the heat put off by the lights used to grow indoors.:peace:

I heard weed has a distinct thermal property comapred to most other vegatation I was worried about one flying over and seeing a christmas tree light up

pot does give off alot of heat compared to other plants. it's not just the lights for indoor goods. outdoor girls will show up on inferred imaging and there's not much you can do about it; i don't know if pine trees give of similar amouts of heat to pot or not but i do know that if you keep something lagitimate that gives off heat near your girls no one will suspect you have plants. eg. if you have chooks this is perfect, seperate off part of the chook shed and put your girls in there, making sure the chooks can't get to em. if any one looks at a thermal image of your chook shed all they see are blobs of heat moving around, your girls will apear to be roosting chickens. you can use this concept with other animals too.

Look it is common misconception that cannabis give off heat (so much that it is like a lighthouse on a thermal camera). The way the law finds plants is through a process called spectral discrimination. They look for the light spectrum of the plant. This means they have a device that goes through a variety of wavelengths. When marijuana is viewed through this device it has a different color compared to other plants. This is due to the plants ability to absorb and reflect radiation, it ends up reflecting specific radiation bands.A page is on it here.http://www.emporia.edu/earthsci/student/gunther3/illicitdrugs.htmlDown the middle of the page you can see marijuana compared to other plants. You can see depending on the wavelength marijuana can be more visible and vice versa. Now as you can see from the graph there is a spike at 700nm. This is the beginning of the thermal region (700nm - 1mm). It indeed does stick out more than the other plants. But you know what? It isn't as bad as it is at 400nm! Once again the plant doesn't give off heat. It reflects and absorbs radiation.

Dont plant by pine trees or evergreens as the soil is crazy wrong around it from the acidic falling needles. If you look there is never growth for about 8-12 feet near a fur tree of any kind.ANd yes marijuana shows up as a very distinct plant compae to others so it stands out

the only tree or shrub that has the same thermal properties is the Alder.its the sorta small tree that grows in wet areas usually away from taller trees. It grows brown bunches of tight lookin long (i call them buds) things..
anyways that and pot both put off same heat signature so if planting alot of pplants in the same area i always try to find a good alder patch.

Pine trees are very bad for your plants. One they produce very acidic soils and Two they are water pigs, they drink up all the moisture in the area. Two reasons you dont see alot of vegitation around them.
