I estimate that it costs me 80 dollars a month to run a 1000 watt for 18 hours per day. My cost per kWh is 14.8 cents. Once I'm in flower and running 12/12, it's a more reasonable cost.

I prefer the simplicity of HID and the low cost of purchase....not much can go wrong.
I just looked at the TastyLED web site. I'm sure their products are great, but they recommend three T4s for a 5X5 -- and that comes out to $2,010 -- before taxes!
All of my stuff is used, and I've only got a little over $500 into it, TOTAL.
I pull at least a pound of dry flower every run & quality is superb. Makes it a little hard to justify an upgrade that's so expensive...

Yep....and power it with one light. 1000 watt HID or LED equivalent and you're done.
I run a mixed spectrum of 600w HPS + 400w MH + cheap LED side panels + lizard lights (UV).
Depending on what stage my plants are in, I sometimes swap out the HPS for a second MH.
If I could get into a used 315w LEC for $300 or less, I would happily retire the old 400w MH.

the bigger the phosphor area on the cobs the better they are normally

I got some 300w ones from china they said they got from canada the phosphor area on them was larger than normal

a lot of the cobs people are using are 38mm to 45mm.... chips over 80mm are better as they have a larger phosphor area so can produce more light and they are easier to cool

I`ve been playing around with some 1000w and 1500w smd panels they are 250mm across, but they just have small sections of phosphor where as these 80mm cobs I got has a very large circle of phosphor

so depends if you wanna put up 2 to 4 cobs per 200w or if you want to use 300w+ chips

I like chips over 300w but they have to be physically bigger in side or you`ll be mounting them really far away to get coverage

Really?.......I use KINDLED and it works just fine.......View attachment 3839567

I follow tons of threads posting all kinds of numbers. I see folks dogging each other out on whos dicks.....or lights are bigger. Everyone has their favorites and do not hesitate to bad mouth everything else they don't like....If KnidLED were shit I wouldn't have a tent full of Green. Is it the best?....probably not but it works just fine.
