Book: Trump wanted to trade Puerto Rico for Greenland
Former President Trump suggested to his aides that the United States could trade Puerto Rico to Denmark for Greenland while he was president, according to a new book from two reporters.

The New York Times journalist Peter Baker and The New Yorker magazine journalist Susan Glasser revealed in their book, “The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021,” that Trump’s plan to buy Greenland came from Ronald Lauder, a New York cosmetics heir who had known Trump since college.

Baker wrote in an article on Wednesday that Lauder discussed the idea of purchasing Greenland with Trump from the early days of his presidency, and Lauder offered to serve as a back channel to negotiate with Denmark, which owns Greenland.

Reports in 2019 revealed Trump’s interest in purchasing Greenland, an autonomous Danish territory, and that some of his advisers supported it while others dismissed it as a fascination.

John Bolton, who was serving as national security adviser at the time, directed his aide Fiona Hill to form a team to consider ideas to acquire Greenland, Baker reported. Bolton believed increasing U.S. presence in Greenland made sense to oppose Chinese influence in the Arctic region, but buying it outright was not feasible.

Trump continued to press for acquiring the island, the world’s largest, suggesting that the U.S. take federal money away from Puerto Rico to buy Greenland or trade the two islands.

Trump said in an interview for the book that the idea to buy Greenland was his own idea.

“I love maps. And I always said: ‘Look at the size of this. It’s massive. That should be part of the United States,’” Trump reportedly said.

Denmark’s prime minister rejected the idea of selling Greenland to the U.S., calling it “absurd.”

The Trump administration faced strong criticism for its response after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico in 2017, with local officials slamming the White House at the time for being slow to respond.

A former Department of Homeland Security official said in 2020 that Trump called Puerto Rico “dirty” and asked to trade it for Greenland after officials visited the island following the hurricane.
On a Mercator projection it looks yuuuge.

Trump defends ‘perfect’ call with Raffensperger amid threat of prison sentences from Georgia probe
Former President Trump defended the controversial call he made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger following the 2020 election, saying in a statement on Monday it was “an absolutely PERFECT phone call.”

The latest defense of the call, which has triggered an investigation in Georgia, follows remarks last week by Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis to The Washington Post that people could face prison sentences as a result of her probe.

Willis also said her team had uncovered credible allegations of serious crimes. She did not specify who could face a prison term.

In a statement through his Save America PAC, Trump said that Willis “is spending almost all of her waking hours, which aren’t many, on attempting to prosecute a very popular president, Donald J. Trump” and that she “is basing her potential claims on trying to find a tiny word or phrase (that isn’t there) during an absolutely PERFECT phone call, concerning widespread Election Fraud in Georgia.”

He claimed that those on the call “had no problems with the call, and didn’t voice any objections or complaints about anything that I said on the call which could be construed as inappropriate.”

Willis launched a probe last year regarding whether the former president or those close to him were involved in attempting to change the outcome of the 2020 election.

Part of the probe includes a call he made to Raffensperger, asking him to find more than 11,000 votes, which would have overturned Joe Biden’s victory in the state.

Raffensperger spurned Trump’s entreaties, refusing to go along with the effort to fine enough votes to overturn the eleciton.

That drew Trump’s ire, leading the former president to endorse a challenger to Raffensperger last year. Raffensperger ultimately prevailed in his Republican primary earlier this year.

The Georgia prosecutor has subpoenaed a number of people including Rudy Giuliani, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and others involved in a scheme to provide an alternative set or electors for Georgia that might have changed the results of the election.

Trump Makes Queen's Funeral All About Him, Says He Would Have Had Better Seat Than Biden
Donald Trump claimed Monday that President Joe Biden’s seating in the 14th row at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral reflected a lack of respect for him ― and that Trump would have gotten a better spot “if I were president.”

“This is what’s happened to America in just two short years,” Trump, who wasn’t invited to the queen’s funeral, wrote on his social media platform with an image of Biden being seated.

“No respect! However, a good time for our President to get to know the leaders of certain Third World countries. If I were president, they wouldn’t have sat me back there — and our Country would be much different than it is right now!”

In reality, the Bidens’ tardy arrival and royal funeral seating protocol were likely factors in their placement, according to reports.

Biden and first lady Jill Biden arrived late to London’s Westminster Abbey after their armored vehicle ― for which they received an exemption while other world leaders took the bus ― got stuck in traffic, according to Time magazine.

The Bidens sat next to the president of Switzerland, ahead the prime minister of the Czech Republic and behind the president of Poland, Newsweek noted.

In addition, “Commonwealth realms and their leaders take precedence” in terms of seating, SkyNews noted.

Trump, nevertheless, prattled on: “In Real Estate, like in Politics and in Life, LOCATION IS EVERYTHING!!!”

This should get Donald hopping and freaking out at his next Rally. Letitia James step right up, you're the next contestant on Donald's death threat-o-rama. Let the doxing and death threats begin, as soon as the master speaks. She's calling in the IRS and recommending criminal charges too. She's black and Donald won't be able to help himself and the base will get extra special excited about her and the prosecutor in Georgia, because she is black too. Two black women appear to be taking Donald down and I can assure you his racist base will be livid over it; Donald is their great white hope and war chief.

Stand back and stand by for Donald's next rally or internet post.

Trump thought he could prosecute Comey and Clinton himself: book
Former President Trump told his White House counsel to direct the Justice Department to prosecute Hillary Clinton and former FBI Director James Comey, according to excerpts from a new book obtained by Insider.

Insider reported that the revelation comes from The New York Times’s Peter Baker and The New Yorker’s Susan Glasser in their new book, titled “The Divider,” which came out this week.

“At one point in the spring of 2018, Trump instructed [former White House Counsel] Don McGahn to direct [former Attorney General Jeff] Sessions to prosecute Clinton and Comey and, if the attorney general refused, said he would do it himself as president,” Baker and Glasser wrote, according to Insider.

“McGahn had to explain that the president had no such power,” the book continues.

Clinton and Comey were two common foes of Trump during his presidency.

The ex-first lady and Secretary of State lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential election, and Trump fired Comey as FBI director as the agency investigated Trump campaign officials for possible ties to the Russian government.

The former president has continued to publicly lash out at the two figures.

Despite the well-known public criticisms, Baker and Glasser’s book provides new insight into Trump’s attempts to pursue Clinton and Comey.

“You can’t prosecute anybody,” McGahn told Trump, the authors wrote, Insider reported.

According to Insider, the book states McGahn subsequently produced a memo to Trump explaining how leveraging his role as president to prosecute his political enemies would be illegal, also comparing such actions to those taken by dictators.

“Congress could seek to ‘impeach and remove’ the president if it concluded that he abused the power of intervening in a criminal matter,” McGahn wrote in bold and italics for emphasis, according to the book as reported by Insider.

That highlights why Biden is the better man behind the Resolute Desk.

That Man views limits on his executive power with rancor.

Our President views those same limits with gratitude.

And the hits keep coming, daily sometimes and weekly on a regular basis, as the walls close in on Donald during election season and he hopefully goes mad and melts down on the stump. He should have a bunch of judges to threaten soon, and his target list is getting kinda long and is starting to include several federal judges. I bet he even throws Cannon under the bus when she won't take a bullet for him, though she has taken plenty of shots, ruined her career and reputation in polite society. Garland won't be indicting Donald in her court or even state, Donald will be tried in DC federal court for the documents and other things. Once the documents bullshit is done so is she, if she wants to hang onto the case, it will start to smell after the special master and 11th circuit are done with it and perhaps her!

Cohen is definitely off Donald's Christmas card list! He's getting his revenge on Trump and will cash in from the government over his lawsuit. He did most of his time at home on Park Avenue because of covid and has no problem at all in indulging in schadenfreude over Donald's misfortune. There will be an industry formed around Trump, with books and movies, but he won't see a dime, Cohen will cash in too and Donald will make work for legions of future historians and political scientists.

This finishes fat Donnie in the Big Apple, the worm has been removed from the apple.

I think 100 days from now, 50 days after the election, the big question will be, how much time will Donald get and where will he serve his time and die.
you are an optimist...they never got Al Capone for racketeering, they got him for tax evasion...James just said she is sharing information with IRS, recommending a criminal investigation...a cell is a cell, whether you're in it for jay walking or murder.
or a small house somewhere remote, with room for two secret service agents at all times. it just doesn't sound as good...
