Scottish government facing new pressure to investigate Trump golf course purchases: report
Avaaz, a U.S.-based global activism group, has filed a petition in Scotland’s highest civil court asking for a review of the Scottish government's recent decision to not seek an "unexplained wealth order" looking into former President Trump’s Scottish golf course, Reuters reports.

The Scottish Parliament in February voted 89-32 against a motion to investigate Trump’s golf course, despite calls from lawmakers of the Green Party to ask for an unexplained wealth order.

In its petition, Avaaz alleged that the lawmakers who voted against the order did so due to a flawed legal interpretation, Reuters reports.

"Such a continued misapplication of the law would be contrary to the rule of law," the group said.

An unexplained wealth order is a Scottish governmental measure that seeks to ensure the source of money used to make purchases in Scotland by overseas entities. It is meant to prevent criminal organizations from investing in the country.

Trump bought the golf course in 2006 during a real estate spending spree without making any indication that he had taken out a loan to make the purchases. If the source of the funds used to buy Trump’s golf course is unable to be verified, the Scottish government could confiscate the property.

As Reuters notes, Humza Yousaf, who was the Scottish justice secretary at the time of the vote, argued that unexplained wealth orders should be pursued by law enforcement and not politicians.

Washington Post: Manhattan DA convenes grand jury to consider potential charges in Trump Organization probe

(CNN)Manhattan's top prosecutor has convened a grand jury that is expected to decide whether to indict former President Donald Trump should prosecutors present criminal charges in their probe of the Trump Organization, two people familiar with the matter told The Washington Post.

The panel, convened by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, could also decide to indict executives at the Trump Organization or the business itself if criminal charges are presented, the Post reported.

The grand jury is set to sit for three days a week for six months, according to the newspaper, and will likely hear matter beyond just the Trump Organization probe during that time.

CNN has reached out to the Trump Organization for comment. Trump has previously called the district attorney's investigation a "witch hunt."

The Manhattan district attorney's office declined to comment when reached by CNN on Tuesday.
News of the panel signals that Vance's team of prosecutors -- who have been investigating the Trump Organization for more than two years -- could be nearing the end of their probe. Prosecutors are looking into whether the Trump Organization misled lenders and insurance companies about the value of properties and paid appropriate taxes.

The prosecutors are combing through millions of pages of documents, including Trump's tax returns, which they obtained in February after the US Supreme Court blocked Trump's attempt to stop a subpoena to his long-time accounting firm.
The investigation encompasses Trump Tower, the family estate known as Seven Springs, its Chicago hotel and condo tower, as well as the hush money payments made to silence Stormy Daniels, the adult film star who alleges an affair with Trump. Trump has denied the affair.

The Manhattan district attorney's investigation drew renewed attention earlier this month following news that New York Attorney General Letitia James had joined the probe.

The attorney general office's investigation into the Trump Organization, which has been underway since 2019, will also continue as a civil probe, but the office recently informed Trump Organization officials of the criminal component.

"We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into the organization is no longer purely civil in nature. We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA," James' spokesman Fabien Levy told CNN. "We have no additional comment."

To golf with Trump you probably have to sign an NDA, I never heard of anybody beating the snot out him on the course. I'm sure lot's of people could beat him by a couple of dozen or more strokes over 18 holes. Where I'm from only pussies and old people with mobility issues use golf carts, shit, some purists demand you carry your own clubs on yer own back and walk the fucking course like a man laddie!

Maybe there are a couple of reasons why Garland is in no rush to go after Trump. The first reason being he knows what's gonna go down in NY and that it alone will put Donald away for life. The second reason is it is much harder to mount a legal defense for future charges from inside a prison cell and when he appears in federal court, he will be shackled while wearing a NY state prison jumpsuit. I'm certain they will try him for the insurrection in federal court and it would be better for the TV cameras if he were already in custody! That trial would be of such national and political importance that the judge will probably allow it to be televised. So we might get to see Donald in an orange jumpsuit, tied to his chair squirming, with a ball gag in his gob and his eyeballs bugged out.

I hope it excites his base and thousands of the fuckers try to charge the courthouse with flags flying. I think the NY city police department will give them a warm welcome, it will NOT be a repeat of the capital hill insurrection! I think the Trumpers could have more trouble with the citizens of NY though and just making it to the courthouse steps could be an issue.

The fact that his cult controls the republican party and they have a pretty good shot at taking the house and senate in 2022, is a scary prospect. Only about 25% of the electorate are republicans, but half the "independents" are really republicans, but too ashamed to admit it. Biden only won the popular vote by a few percent, 73 million moral failures liked Donald and the republican house and senate ran ahead of him in the polls. Trump isn't being censored by Twitter or Facebook. He is banned for using those platforms to stage a bloody coup and incite his followers to violence.

Anyway, yeah, he is trying to start up a media company, or says he is. But that guy can't even run an old economy business. He'd be in way over his head if he tried to start up a modern-day media outlet. It would be as dismal as the "Four Seasons" press conference held on Trump's behalf by then Trump-lawyer Giuliani.
