DR. Grinspoon Anyone?

Heirloom Sativa - Barneys Farm Dr Grinspoon is named in honor of our hero, the brilliant cannabis advocate, researcher and author Dr. Lester Grinspoon. It's genetics is a pure heirloom Sativa. The plant grows thin and tall, and needs a longer flowering time around 95-100 days. When mature, the colas look like compact, green and red-brown beads, loosely strung on thin stems with a dusting of THC crystals. The fragrance off the buds is of sumac and lemon and the smoke is light and tangy with citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Dr Grinspoon can stretch very tall indoors. You can harvest these cannabis seeds outdoors in Mid November. Dr. Grinspoon has a very high THC of 25% so it offers a strong, long-lasting, energetic and cerebral high. Old school Sativa of the highest order.

Anyone done this yet?

In the somewhat near future I'll be dedicating half a year to this strain. Just curious if anyone has any tips/tricks or general knowledge on it?

Let me know, Thanks!

if youve ever smoked a strain like the caterpillar pheno of dr. g instantly youd understand why its so nice, from my understanding dr. g is a pure hawaiian heirloom sativa with similar growth patterns to asians. all phenos dont show how the picture shows, ive wanted to do this strain before

no personal experience but have smoked strains similar, i'd say go for it but flower out a few clones to see the pheno you want

i wasnt helpful either but i hope i encouraged you to try something unique, i recomend making seeds so we dont see this beauty die

To srh2006 and Bonequicha, thanks for the responses. Your comments are greatly appreciated. I will definitely be keeping this strain as long as possible:)

Never tried the caterpillar pheno but would love to. I got 3 beans and can't wait to see her in action, as the picture i've seen of it look quite peculiar.

thanks for your time.

Aloha.
I have grown 5 of the 10 beans i got.
Unforunately they are feminized so cant do any pure breeding....but always can make hybrids.
It is a very challenging strain, not only to grow, but to find the right pheno.
I dont know what the other parent they used to make these seed as i dont believe they are s1's....cause there is much variation in this strain.
There are ones that are more dense, some shorter flowering....and some that are pretty close to the original.
Dont let this sway you though....cause if you find the right one....you wont b disapointed...and if you have the patience to let her finish....your yield will b much higher than you think....and its the simplest plant to trim ever!!!
I did not experience any hermies or with any other baneys strains....but did notice its hard to always find a keeper in a pack pf his seeds.
Tangy citrus hashyness almost like a thai strain, but a little hashier.
Very nice Hawaiian high...happy and upbeat energy!

Before you dedicate whole season....make sure you take clones, so you got the right one....cause the denser ones are not nearly as good as the poddy cluster one!

do a search on google, dr.grinspoon is a mutant plant stolen from another breeder. even the pics they use in the add arnt theres. there are allot better almost pure sativas out there. I have had a dinafem industrial plant that grew like a grinspoon where its sisters all grew normal.

Franjan - thanks for the link. I will be using that info in my journey;)

Kona gold- I appreciate the heads up on the different phenos. I have 3 beans so I hope I get the mutant looking one.

Haulinbass - ill definitely abuse Google while piling up info on this strain.

Thanks you guys!

Mr I Can Do That For Half
I ve seen many different pics but never grown it. It is an ugly looking girl thats for sure and I think thats always been what turned me off from trying to give it a go plus Im an indica man and not really fond of sativas. Id like to see more from those who do grow it though. Good luck

Yeah...doing 1 at the moment. Its kinda the worst sativa I've got in my grow, as of now I'm thinking of I should chuck it outside or leave it in a corner somewhere.

-the buds look cool...
-Yields are really really shitty...but I suspect that if it is grow outdoors yield should be just "ok".
-Doesn't drink as much water as the other plants...so watering schedule is completely different and gets annoying since it's sensitive to over/under watering.
-The high is alright, but for something that take 18 weeks or something...I would expect much more. It feels like a speedy sativa, but it doesn't have that kick. It is racy, but it's not the intense panic attack racy. It is clear and clean, no body stone at all. You can easily study or work under it influence. Smoked some last night with some VBT handrub and it kept me up like a cup of coffee would. Crossed mine with VBxT, GT and OTPhaze to see what would happen.
-I would only grow it if you in search of something that looks completely different as the pheno I had the high wasn't as good as expected.

If you want to see some pics...https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=251026&page=3 somewhere in the middle I have two pics.

vb x t = vietnam black x thai, right? how is that? i've wanted to try that for quite some time. that or orient express.
Yeah it is man. Its pretty good, nice social/clear uplifting weed and very easy to grow(manageable indoors). Most phenos don't give the stratospheric skyrocket highs either if that what your after.

Quoted from a previous post of mine.

"Never tried pure VB, but i have done VBT. VB phenos have a very fat leaves(leaves resemble a sat dom hybrid). The VB effects are racy yet clear and not intense. You can function quite normally under its effects. Very nice for working/exploring/socializing...The Thai phenos on the other hand are clear and racy but it gives a real rush of energy to the head. It can sometimes be really intense. "
