Durban Posion-Dutch Passion???

Hey all,

Asking on behalf of a friend:

A mate of ours has brought back some Dur P fem seeds from dutch passion in the amster. I know that Dutch P's rep isn't very good on the basis of low potency and hermies. I have only had bad germ rates with them and haven't had any luck popping their seeds previously.

However, I have heard that sometimes gems can still be found. As he works with limited numbers and our project this year is to grow only sativas. Would it be worth it for him to grow out these durbans? He's got 3 seeds of it, but I'm trying to get him to grow Zamal Reunion or MNS Walkabout instead.

Buddy down the road talked about this strain forever and he finally gave it a shot last year outdoor. He had a tough time selling them to be honest. I doubt he would ever recommend to anyone- we smoked it and I was not impressed. BTY "the neighbor" loves and dies by his kush's year after year- his absolute favorite!

second that! DP has a rep for hermies and holy smokes' mozambique poison, at least the leaf in the male i cut down as soon as he wanted to knock my gals up. i actually liked it's flavor a little better too as it wasn't as sickly sweet as the durban i was gifted, but more of an anise and dried basil spice flavor, but definitely related to licorice.

their malawi gold i tried seemed very promising though i had to cut it down when everything in my room got hot spot burnt. the report i've read of the aussie grower who did his malawi tree outdoors was positive and someone chimed in that, if not the mozambique poison, the mulanje gold was top class and trippy. they have good prices on their gear, and if you buy at the right time from attitude, you can get 2 each regs of mozambique, malawi and mulanje... the "3M deal" and have some variety.

sativa seeds has a durban that's 25% NL5 that's probably watered down.

the best thing to do would be build a time machine, and go back a few years and get them direct from the late afropips. then again, you could always just go to africa too.

DP has a lot of great strains. i was loooking into their cali-o, but their reputation isn't the greatest.

i haven't tried either of high quality seeds' durbans, but their haze x skunk is crazy potent and long lasting and doesn't turn stony ever. i wasn't as impressed with their thai skunk which was more like a generic fruity haze, but would try them before DP too.

the "best" might be sensi seeds' version if their quality is across the board as many consider their expensive jack herer to be the best in the world, and 485 isn't unreasonable for an "essential strain"

whatever version you get, please do share a smoke report. durban poison was repeatedly voted as many people's favorite sativa in another forum. the "pure" (?) durban i blazed was way better than street shit, but not as trippy as columbian gold, and that expansive coughing sickly sweet licorice stick flavor gave me dry heaves adding injury to insult, but once the high hit me, i forgave it for tasting like licorice.

there's one thing for sure, it's a very distinctive strain that people will remember once they try it.

i wouldn't try seedsman either. i was interested in their malawi a few years ago when i got a PM that it's pure schwag.

Fair enough; I too was expecting people to say
"don't". I'll let him know and ask him for the report if he does follow through.

I'm not after Durban; heard its mellow and I like the fked up feeling. We have many others anyway. HG, don't worry, I have GT, Malawi and Zamal for Africans.

Thanks for the input guys, I taught Dutch P might still have some good left....oh well...
