dusk-dawn light timer? help please

okay so i found a light timer laying around my xmas stuff, ma said she never used it cause she could never figure it out the settings are (off, on ,2 hrs, 4hrs, 6hrs, 8hrs, and dusk til dawn) obviously nothing on here is useful except dusk-dawn but how many hours is that to a timer? sounds dumb but i googled it and got no luck lol. please help

if you dont know pin timers are like 10 bucks at any hardware store, and you wont even need it till you are budding

I'm guessing on this but dusk til dawn is most likely 12/12. It would work for flowering but you need something to run 18/6 at least for veg.

ive been doing all the timing myself so far, so i doubt that will matter. tomorrow i'm gonna set it up for dusk-dawn and see how many hours it is. thanks for the help guys much appreciated.

Check the device for a small circular 'eye' to sense light/darkness. I believe your timer is typically used for night-time lighting outdoors. 'Off' and 'On' are pretty self-explanitory. 'Dusk to Dawn' means the light will go on once it is dark, and will turn off once it is light. '2hrs', '4 hrs' etc, mean that once it gets dark, the light will stay on for 2 hrs or 4 hrs. before shutting itself off.

The best use I can think of for this type of timer is for a grow room heater. If your room is heated by the lights when they are on, but cools too much once they are off (say a cabinet in a cool basement), the timer can be used to fire up a heater once the lights go out.

Go to Walmart. Timers are cheap.

Do yourself a favour, and go to your local hardware store. You can get a good mechanical timer for less than $15. No guesswork needed!
