DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

lol .. not at all.. i was too busy dealing with massive growth.. and massive root growth as well.. i make the tea.. i had slime on my fuckin airstones.. i filter the tea through a coffee filter.. a slow going process.. and i fuckign add it at 1 cup per gallon.. my problems are solved.. i had the worst slime you have ever fuckign seen.. seriously.. it cured it.. i made it EXACTLY how he said to make it.. with the mycogrow, aquashield, zho powder and ancient forest.. i believe the ancient forest is the key to the issue you are having..

also.. another thing.. you can't use fucking zone and tea.. the zone kills the fucking tea! derp! .. and also.. while the tea is working, i would take the net pots out of the buckets and dunk and scrub the roots in tap water... then put them back into the fucking buckets.. then inoculate the root zone with tea... do this process every 2 days until the slime is gone..

filter the tea.. the slime isn't bad! noone listen to anyone that says otherwise.. jesus... i had the worst fuckign slime on earth.. and the tea fucking killed it! the slime is not BROWN slime algae.. BSA is a bacteria! the root rot that is caused by the bacteria choking the roots is the nasty stuff you see in late stage cases..

you will ALWAYS have a "slime" in the tea... just buy some coffee filters and filter it all! i don't like putting the "slime" into my tea.. but it is actually not slime technically.. it is a colony of good bacteria! and i would GLADLY feed it into my res! gladly!

That colony of bacteria will suffocate ur roots just as any slime would.. I will get ancient forest and coffee filters oppose to my stockings because i want to know the truth. And mistake me if i wrong but the tea is said to have Aquashield and Zho ((OR)) Mycogrow, with the forest.. Also how much molasses did u use? im only gunna mix 1 gal.

And for the record the Zone keep anything in the water super clean no slime, but in the air gap between the net pots and water level, that whole area gets slimed... and thats not good cause the roots there are important.. will the tea take care of the roots in that air gap?

still confused why yall are using coffee filters? You recommend 400 micron then use a 20 micron filter? Doesn't make sense. You are loosing a lot of the organisms and basically only getting the bacteria that way seems like a waste. Also I got no slime at all in my tea using myco EWC and aquashield.

I got massive amount of slime all over air stone with EWC ZHO Aquashield and molasses. Same thing happen wen i added to res, and i has used stocking for filter. fkin baffles me.

dude i promise... that slime is just a colony of bacteria.. just dont put it into your res so it doesn't clog anything up.. BUT.. i guarantee it is a live super-organism.. i recommend using the mycogrow, aquashield, zho powder and ancient forest... i actually add 1 and 1/2 tsp of maple syrup.. instead of the 1tbsp of molasses.. it is cleaner for me and it gives off a nice hue in the water.. as for the amounts of the others.. i use the small scoop side that comes with the zho powder to measure everything out.. USING THAT as a measuring tool, here is my recipe.. 1/4-1/2 scoop of zho... 1/16-1/8th scoop myco grow.. aqua shield 15 ml... also i take 2 handfuls of ancient forest and put it into a sock with an airstone.. I recommend making a 2 gallon batch.. okay? bc this recipe is for 2 gallons.. the coffee filter is basically just for my own piece of mind... ALSO.. if you dont want to use the coffee filter i would tell you to let the dirt settle to the bottom of the bucket.. and scoop out 4 cups at a time.. dont let the dirt from the ancient forest get agitated or the water will go cloudy again.. if the water starts getting cloudy, just let it settle again... you can also filter out the water with an actual micron filter.. these are cheap and available online.. i was looking online at a microbiological website.. and the biggest these microbes will get will be around 20 microns.. so maybe use a 30 micron filter.. the coffee filters are also fine (i use them) but it takes a while for the water to get through.. so i usually end up using a bunch of fiters if the filter gets visibly clogged.. but jsut so i dont have to i use the water from the top of the bucket... then all of the other stuff settles to the bottom...

another thing that everyone needs to understand about this "slime" that builds up on the airstones and stuff... it is not anerobic bacteria... so it is not destructive to your plants.. the slime that is actually bad that is on your roots right now.. that is bad.. since bacteria's normal behavior is to "build up" and form a colony.. this is not an issue with the tea.. it's like saying wolves running in packs is a little weird.. NO! .. trust me.. i had horrible slime.. after using MY recipe i guarantee that your roots will FILL the buckets in a reasonable amount of time.. i have filled my buckets.. and they are WHITE and FISHBONE... i know.. youre jealous right now.. but you can have them too.. please ask any questions.. i will help you succeed..

please gifted one.. just trust me on this one.. i had slime and build up on my roots that was as bad or worse.. my tap water must be afflicted with some anerobic bacteria.. so i was set up to fail from the very beginning.. i keep my water at 60 degrees for god's sake... and i used zone and h2O2 and bleach.. also an application of pool shock everyonce and a while... didn't work! FAK.. but this tea helped me.. when you read hiesenberg's posts.. you will see that he talks about slime building up on the lava rocks and on the airstones.. but it's normal! .. ACTUALLY to be honest.. i had slime building up in the tubes to and from my fucking chiller! but the roots were white and fishbony! and there had been slime build up for a long time! it was the tea colonies trying to find a place to live! i just cleaned to tubes out and put them back! lol.. i already have a little build up of slime on the part of the hose that touches the water.. but i am not worried about it! because it isn't "slime" slime... it is good slime.. and i hate defining this shit as a slime" .. imagine if they were our size... it would basically be a group of people standing together.. it isn't a fungusy slimey organism.. it is a collection of bacteria trying to make a home.. it's just that some bacteria are bad and some are good.. but the thing is.. we make a tea that has different fungus in it.. these fungus bury themselves in your roots.. and eat bacteria.. so that whenever bacteria try to make a home in the roots.. they either get eaten.. or they just go somewhere else( like the tubes in my chiller).. these bacteria will then go eat as much other bad bacteria as it can.. actually it eats good bacteria as well.. but since we reintroduce more good bacteria.. it is just a feeding frenzy.. and the reason we do that is because we want more bad bacteria to be eaten than good ones.. simple math when you think about it.. SO!! dont hate the slime.. especially when you are brewing it! since it is good stuff.. i just dont like putting the big chunks in my res.. even though if i broke it up it would just be millions of good stuff.. but i just make the tea and filter it with a coffee filter.. remember.. what i told you i read about.. it says 20 microns is the biggest usually.. and since the tea is in early stages at 48 hours with a bunch of teenage bacteria basically, that means they are ready to feed to get even bigger.. so filtering them like that is fine.. please follow my instructions and dont fret about slimes.. as long as your roots get better.. and as long as they stay better.. that's what matters... i recently had some roots grow all of the way down my fucking return pipe.. the one that returns water all the way to my res from the buckets.. i have a great setup i will post some pics soon.. and ill show you the roots.. LOL!! you'll shit yourself.. honest to god.. hahah.. have a good one AND FOLLOW MY ADVICE.. use every ingredient i use and use 2 gallons of water.. PLEASE! it works for me.. it will work for you.. ALSO ancient forest is key! straight up.. just do it and then you'll be happy.. even if your brain is tellig you no as you are pouring it in.. just do it.. i am right about this.. i know it.. since it works for me and my friend.. we both live in the same area.. and i made tea and fixed BOTH our grows.. just fucking do it! haha

ahh... if you read my ltest post.. you will see taht italked about how the fungus variety that we put into the tea that is int mycogrow will actually embed itself into the roots and will eat any good OR bad bacteria that will try to make a home for itself.. so the good bacteria will find homes somewhere else... just clean them off as often as you want.. as long as you have healthy white roots.. you should be happy AND thankful.. if i wasn't such a clean freak i wouldn't care if my res was full of slime and coated an inch thick.. as long as there were white roots... THANKFULLY that will never happen.. because the bacteria eat eachother and they only form colonies on certain kinds of plastic tubing.. like the black vinyl tubing i use to and from my chiller.. and idk why these people are saying 400 micron filters only.. that's stupid.. if they were that big then we would be able to see these mother fuckers.. lol! freaky.. like i said.. the bacteria and fungi that we grow will only get as big as 20 microns usually.. in FULL maturity.. (which isn't in our tea at 48 hrs) they can get bigger.. ill find the link again.. it's a microbiology center of some sort..

AND ALSO.. as i stated in my new huge paragraph.. i use ancient forest, aquashield, zho powder, mycogrow and ancient forest.. i also use maple syrup instead of molasses.. i use 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of maple syrup.. my othe dosages are 15-25ml aquashield, (i use the small scoop that comes with the zho powder for all other measurements) zho powder 1/4-1/2 scoop, mycogrow 1/8-1-16 scoop, and two handfulls of ancient forest in a sock with an airstone.. i then mold the ancient forest around the airstone.. i then play with it so that it floats horizontally in the water on the top..

ps... the more zho powder you put in.. the more fungi there will be.. this "slimy substance" that you don't like may come from OVER use of zho powder.. which isn't bad.. it will only make a fungi dominant tea.. which will give everything a tiny layer of slipperiness or maybe some buildup on and airstone or something.. nothing to worry about.. just clean it off if you don't like it.. it wont harm the roots.. this blend of bacteria and fungi will never grow on the roots and choke it like brown slime will... that's why it is so effective.. the fungi actually creates a symbiotic relationship with the roots themselves.. which i think is pretty cool =)

Hey man i read all that.. At the moment I have the ZHO Aquashield and just got the Ancient Forest been brewin for 30ish hours now with 1.5tsp molasses for 1 gal. I dont have the myco grow stuff but if this fails ill get some. My roots are tough to diagnose also due to the stain color that the 3 part does to the roots.. I will add 1 cup for my little 2gal water dwc buckets then maybe just 1/2 cup every 3 days sound about right?

I also know how great Rapid Start is for building roots but since its organic im hesitant to add it, you ever used it? I added it once to the tea and it really foams up because it has alfalfa/willow/barley in it.. You think that would be harmful to add to the tea since its mostly organic extracts?

You say you have really strong root growth but are you using any additives or just chemical nutrients..

So far the tea has come out real nice with no odor using the Ancient Forest opposed to the EWC which would brew foul smells every time. Should be interesting to see how well it works.

Hey guys and gals, just wanted to share my experience with Heisenberg's Tea. My roots are great, I luckily warded off an early root rot infection. I also had an old pH down of GH, who's dyes also cause some type of slime. Anywhoo, my recipe is Great White ( I had already bought it, so I am going to use the rest of it), some EWC molasses. I have not yet had a tea smell foul. I have never let a batch go longer than 1 week, and usually brew 36-50 hours. Just depends when I can get to the bucket with my work schedule.
I keep my res's sterilized once a week. My roots are super healthy and white ( with a little stain, but nothing like the slime and pyerthium growth I had before). Cheers

After adding the Heisenberg tea one of the two plants used on smells foul already and roots dont seem to be improving. How long does it usually take?

My Tea is brewing very nicely no odor at all looks great, roots are getting darker and look worse. Roots smell of rot. Nothing getting better 1 cup per gallon tea.

Do you avoid nutrients until the tea cleans the roots?

im gonna tell you right now.. it took my plants about a week to show some hefty results.. ALSO.. i would take the whole plants over to a pot full of water and manually wash the roots in 3%hydrogen peroxide.. this is what i did.. AFTER THAT wash your roots down so that there is no excess left on the roots.. then place them back into the water with tea.. I didnt not have ANY nutrients except for some rhizotonic by canna.. i use ONLY canna nutrients.. they are chemical and very well balanced.. and seriously.. the roots will look worse for a while.. just remember to clean the roots every other day with normal water with your fingers.. also this is another thing that noone has mentioned.. alot of the roots that will grow will come from inside the net pot and then grow out that way.. once you have roots that are white and you have the tea going.. they will never go away.. seriously.. and another thing.. i hate it when people blame root color on thier nutes.. i have some of the darkest nute soup known to man.. but my roots are shiny white lol.. dont believe that horse shit.. the lightest you roots will get will be like.. hmm.. eggshell? which is 99 parts white.. 1 part yellowish tanish brownish.. so stick with the tea man.. i recommend getting the mycogrow.. it is awesome.. i promise if you use MY recipe your roots wil thrive.. i also keep my water at about 60 - 65 degrees.. i have a chiller.. my dwc recirculates.. so i can just dump nutes into the res and it will circulate within 5 minutes.. like i have a pump on at 900gph and i only have MAS 25 gallons in the whole bitch.. lol!! i also have a great waterfall effect.. and the system feeds the buckets from the BOTTOM! very cool actually.. that means fresh oxygenated water EVERY THIRTY SECONDS!! my roots are so healthy now and i have to hand it all to the base recipe i found and improved on.. there is this tiny tiny thing that i didn't mention.. bc it is a random product that i got for 12 bucks randomly.. it is a base bacteria additive that is sold locally called "hydrobact".. i only add 10ml of it.. and i assume it is just food for the "fish".. since it isn't powerful in any way.. > http://www.brewandgrow.com/grow/plant-food-hydroponic-nutrients-fertilizers/hydroponic-nutrients/hydrobact-1697.html < there is the link just in case you are concerned your tea isn't up to snuff.. actually.. before i had all of my supplies for the tea.. i added ONLY the hydrobact and it started to form new root shoots from my net pot.. so that was when i was convinced that this tea would work.. but i promise.. stick with it my man.. you will be happy.. just remember to filter the tea after.. i have a new way.. look at the paragraph below for my new way of filtering!!

ALSO ANOTHER THING!!!! i have a new way to filter tea bro!! using a tshirt! WOOT! after brewing the tea.. put the tea into a fucking cylindrical container.. put a tshirt on top of it.. so that means front and back put together.. no more than two layers.. so a tshirt not folded up but it has the front and backside touching .. like the way you would wear it ya know? not folded.. so two layers of material.. then hold the tshirt with your hands around the cylindrical container.. and then pour.. every once and a while turn it rightside up and peel the tshirt from the top bc there will be pressure on the inside. negative pressure.. so just let air back into the container so that the tea can run smoothly.. this will give you a good fiter that is FASTER than fucking coffee filters.. and also just in case science is wrong, it will give you a little more than 20 microns.. just in case there are some big mamma bacteria or fungi in there..

ps.. buy the fucking mycogrow.. i love the shit.. and it will last forever.. lol.. i only use a tiny "bump" of the stuff.. like two scoops from the end of a key.. ya know what i mean? lolllolololol any questions ask away!

i have strong root growth because the tea allows my rhizotonic to do the work.. i would recommend letting the tea do it's work before using any nutes.. nutes allow cynobacteria to feed on what they need.. if you take the feeding ground away.. they have to go near the other "bacteria" that is in the water.. and as soon as that happens.. BAM venus flytrap if you know what im sayin! haha.. so if you are looking for a great product that improves root growth after your problems are gone.. i would recommend rhizotonic.. not "bio-rhizotonic" but get the CANNA brand rhizotonic.. rapid start is great for seedlings. but not so good when it comes to a larger scale.. stick with it and please please ask any questions.. now that you are in this phase.. iwill be checking this account for any replies daily or multiple times daily.. i need to see you succeed.. bc this helped me i need this to save your grow as well.. good luck man! and please message this thread with any concerns.. just read my other post that i just posted and you will learn a couple things i did while i was in "limbo" waiting for the tea to work.. okay? peace brother!

Ur prob one of the most helpful people around.. Lets say since i just bought the Rapid Start and tea products, could i get away without the mycogrow and rhizo this time or do you suggest just get it no matter what. I plan to use them next time though. I just got a whole bunch of coffee filters too since im just testing this on one plant it should be ok, i use a funnel and like 5 filters (not all together 1 at time) works well. Ill use shirt when i need more volume.

So i need to wash the roots off every other day? wont this shock them constantly? Also what about the lighting must i move it out of the direct 200w MH lamp?

And a weird thing about the root color is I was using the 3 part that stains your roots, but on one of the plants was using Sensi AB which doesnt, i swapped the sensi to the 3 part and INSTANTLY the roots went dingy and dark started to rot and build slime so i went back to sensi.. Not sure if i have a bad bottle of micro or what but it seems to really aid in bad root health. But the Micro really does stain though because i use to have some white zip ties in the aero i use to use and they would turn brown.
*would also like to note every time i used the 3 part the new growth would start cupping back and fan leaves would begin, went back to the sensi and it just stops so something def wrong with my 3 part.

*Also im dealing with moderate infestation of broad mites, but i have OGbiowar foliar pack keepin that in check

So you can see my patience is really REALLY being tested right now and this is the 3rd set of clones that started out like this other two were tossed.. :(

dude.. i feel your pain.. that's why i feel like helping you personally! i know how it feels to go through this shit.. I would use the nutrient that works.. a completely chemical nutrient..

1 - wash the roots ONLY if there is some buildup.. but at least check them to make sure.. the tea will start to do it's magic..

2 - i would say the tea you have now is fine, but my exact recipe works for me.. and i have a rdwc.. it would work even better in dwc i'd imagine.. so next time your brew tea.. brew it with the fungi packet that you can buy at the website.. also make sure there is turbulent air bubbles in each pot, it stirs the water around and also shoots bacteria up into the net pot.. this will facilitate new growth out of the net pot and will eventually overwhelm your bucket with the kind of growth that happened to me..
3 - i would recommend using canna aqua vega a+b(veg) and aqua flores a+b(flower), this is ONLY because it is a complete chemical fertilizer AND the CANNA line comes with a whole bunch of additives that are super nice for dwc and plants in general..
4 - Kill those mites... or else you wont be able to see if your root problem is solving anything, bc you will just have another problem to deal with that causes lack of new growth and stuff..
5 - i don't like the 3 part ferts.. idk why.. it's in the way they make it, i have seen alot of slime caused from those..
6 - one thing i need to clarify.. the tea and the fertilizers are different beasts... you add the tea into your non- chlorinated dwc buckets.. make sure that there is nothing in there that can kill the tea.. you dont ad ANY nutrients.. let the tea do it's work okay? after the roots start getting big i would add nutrients .. one thing that i would recommend adding is Rhizotonic.. you can use the rapid start if you want.. but rhizotonic is great... just take the "hit" and get the size bigger than the pint.. like the half gallon.. it is a CANNA product so you will be able to see right away..
7 - you can use whatever you have as tea right now.. it's fine no worries.. and that rapid start will do okay as well.. but that's all that should be in the buckets... ALSO! the lights can be over the plants.. but make sure that they aren't right on top of those mamas! maybe back em up a little bit =)

any questions ask meh! =) peace brother!

I just wanted to show your the future of your plants =) and your roots....weed1.jpgweed2.jpgweed3.jpgweed4.jpgweed5.jpg

dont be concerned about the color of my surface roots.. those are oxidated and i also have a ppm of 950... so yeah.. lol.. i have taken samples of roots inside and they are much whiter.. these surface roots are also infested with fungi colonies so i accept the color yellow as A okay =) zero slime is visible to the naked eye.. there are fishbone white roots running around the sides.. and also the sheer mass of roots is actually pretty impressive wouldn't you say? that is only the top.. i cant remove the top of the lid since i have a scrog pattern up .. made out of a 1 by 2 and some thick kite rods.. sorry that you kinda have to bend your neck to see the actual bud pics.. i have only been flowering for a few weeks.. =) and i only have 1 400 watt light.. so that tells you what can happen with only a little light.. right?
