What is your point? Here in Colorado the supply is larger than the demand. The prices have dropped as a result.

I was pointing out what is actually happening here in Colorado.
So far, the supply is larger than the demand. The prices are about 1/2 what they were when most of the dispensaries opened.
If you do not want to agree with reality, that is your hot mess.
 
Hydroton - Trousers is speaking from experience of living in a market with a legal structure in place to buy and sell medical mj. This is not a theoretical discussion. He is right about supply and demand in the Denver area, and subsequent impact on cannabis prices.

I believe the prices are lower in CO than CA (for example) because we had more people jump in on the supply side than the demand could support. Maybe that dynamic will change with rec mj, but that is what we saw with mmj.

The price of cannabis in New York, London, Tokyo is not relevant to this discussion. They all have different supply/demand models. This is not a global commodity in the classic economic theory sense.
 
In my opinion, the drop in price during the last three years has less to do with an increase in supply and more to do with cities like Denver and Boulder having more dispensaries than Starbucks. A dispensary owner in the mountains can still get $250 for a medium grade ounce of nugs whereas a dispensary owner in Denver would only be able to get $150 for that same ounce because that owner has to compete with many other dispensaries in the area for the business coming from a limited number of red card holders. As I stated before in this forum, I think the price of an ounce will increase once the 64 pot shops open because the shops won't be fighting over the same small pool of customers like dispensaries. The shops will be able to sell to anyone who has a valid I.D. and then people will start complaining about how the demand coming from the pot tourists has made nugs more expensive in Colorado.

You are describing supply and demand.
If the prices go up, it will be because the supply is less than the demand.

It is not complicated. They call it the law of supply and demand for a reason.
 
The prices are not goin up ever again...anyone who wants smoke is getting it...there will be only moregrowers ..so expect the price to drop a bit still.
 
Supply and demand is correct. And there will be a market for the highest of grades available. And there will still be a black market. If you think (I'm not saying anybody is lost here or to be rude to anyone) all alcohol in this state is legally sold, if all guns are licensed then you have another thing coming. If someone wants to make money, they will be able to.

i live in philly, its my fucked up home but I love it cause i know the animal it is

denver is cool first place I had to stop in a major city while on the road the breckenridge and hunt down weed cause my buddy and I ran out, found a dude with a kitten in his backpack and an icp shirt, surprisingly some of the best blueberry I've had and 5.5g for 60 bucks we were stoned the whole rest of the way. Stayed at a friends highrise while out there for a bit and it was cool but I do prefer boulder which was really fun for 4 months, I also did live in leadville for 11 months before moving to boulder for 4, 8 miles north of leadville there aint shit and no one around if you want to talk about rural
 
More people are growing now because it is legal and there is no where to buy it with out a license.
By the time they get rec stores open a lot of people will have two or more grows under their belt.

I still want coffee shops. I would love to stop into a place for lunch, get a sandwich a cup of coffee and 4 bong rips.
