Hello all.
I have 1 Older magnetic 1000 watt mh and a new 1000 mh with balast and a new digital 600 watt hps with balast. I have 2 oscillating fans and 2 6 inch duct fans. the 1000 MH is running 18 hours and the HPS is 12 and 12. I pay my electric every month on time. I seem to do well (mainly because of this site) so I am turning to you all again. Should I be concerned about power consumption? Now that I have everything finally setup and going. I want to prevent issues. I keep my mouth SHUT about it. Please let me know if I should switch to CFL's or LED's to save on electricity. I want a "decent" yield. It don't have to be AMAZING. Please tell me what you think about the risk and alternatives where I can lessen the risk and still be good. If you have good/bad experience with alternative lighting please let me know. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!!

You'll be fine as long as you pay your bill and don't burn down the house everyone is happy. Don't be concerned.

Stick with your HIDs IMO. The others you mentioned aren't quite up to snuff. Though I have seen good things from both, I don't think they can replace HIDs yet. Then again, I've never used them.

And certainly don't worry about your electricity usage catching the eye of the electricity providers. They only question usage when they think it's being stolen from them. Otherwise, they want you to use all the power you can! You're safe as long as you are the one paying the bills. Now for renters, like myself, that's another story ;)

Dont worry about it at all, just pay the bill.

HIDS are the Only way to go.. Unless you are getting a decent amount its not worth it!!

If its your house fire away, the electric company would more than likely think you bought another refrigerator and put it in your garage and you bought two new 60 inch plasma TV's. Do you get my sarcasm here? If you were running 10k watts then I would say be worried.

At ease soldier, as long as you are not greedy..i.e 100+ plants your 1600w set up will be cool. Secret gardens must stay secret. Most idiots who get busted have at least 6000w or more from I have discovered. But 1000w to veg is alot.... but if it works, I am no judge.

When I put in my 400w with fans along with my T5... there was no real noticeable change in my bill. I'll be adding another 400w and some higher rated fans and I'm not worried in the least bit. And I do have a fridge in my garage with all sorts of other electrical things.
