Ethics of Guerilla growing on someone else's land

Hey guys,

Due to a number of reasons, I have decided against growing indoors for a while. So I decided to try my luck at growing outdoors. The only problem is that I don't have enough land of my own to grow on (of course not counting the 1/4 acre of residential land that I own).

I started hiking around (which I love to do anyway), and I found a very nice, and fairly large plot of forrest land that would be suitable to grow on. Clear skies in certain spots, with low brush obstructing views from eye level. Water retention in the soil seems proper, but Ph seems a little off. I could always bring in my own soil though.

After finding a great spot, I went through the local registry of deeds to find out who owns it. It ends up it's a guy that doesn't live on the land and is looking to sell it for about $5 million. If I had the cash, I would buy it, but I don't.

So I was just wondering, since I'm new to outdoor growing, or Guerilla growing for that mater, what are the ethics behind growing on someone else's property?

So what do you guys think, should I go for it, or should I not? I know it's not ethical, but is it so unethical that I shouldn't think of it? Should I just stick to buying weed for now?

Any input is much appreciated.

Oh yeah, and another thing. The land has alot of dead trees on it. Some that have been knocked down, but most that are still standing. What are the ethics behind taking these dead trees down?

I would really prefer not to damage anyone else's property, which is why I would never consider choping down a live tree on someone else's property to clear the sky, but do you guys think this should go for dead standing trees as well? Or not really?

people pick shrooms on other peoples land

expect the same treatment

^ya, the dead trees might bring in good nutes, you never know!

If the land is so abandoned that you think no one will ever see, then u are good to go. My suggestion is find 10 places and plant so if 5-6 fail, you still have 4 that are good.

Well, just respect the land, and dont leave trash etc. Dont leave any trails from walking in either. Just treat it like your own.

Tell u what, u enter onto someone elses land to commit a criminal act, thats un-ethical. If ur grow gets found on his land, he could end up going to jail for your fuck up. Dont do it.

Find a national park or reserve that is GOVERNMENT OWNED. Some reserves are privately owned, stay off!

Put yourself in the owners shoes. Two if u get caught doing it on his land, who too say he isn't going to shoot u and bury u out there. If hes got 5 million $ worth of land, this guy probaby can pull strings and make u dissapear. Use better judgement and dont do it. For fuck sake, just grow a small garden in ur back yard and hide some dope plants in there.

Shut up.. cause he owns a 5 million dollar plot of land he can pull strings to have you killed? No thats not going to happen. If the guy spots you growing weed plants hell give you a slap on the wrist and say get teh fuck off my property and thank the plants for himself. He got that 5 million dollar lot either through inheritance or because he has the brains to realise the world doesn't work that way. 5M isn't that much , sure its alot, but this isn't the rich and famous territory

There are no ethics about growing on someone elses land. You just have to be a ninja so that you are not detected. Leave no tracks or rubbish.
If i were you i'd go hard and make use of it. If you stand around scratching your head wondering what to do then another season will go by and you'll have no kronik.
One thing you must do is make sure there are no other grow op's on the same turf or there could be trouble. if there is then try find a spot further in then check the surrounding area for up to a km so that you know other growers won't be in your turf.
Also don't put all your plants in one garden, have several gardens in different locations or spot plant so that your chances of success will be better and with outdoor gardening you have to realise that you may not get back what you think. You have to plant more to try get back something. there are many things that go wrong outdoors eg. animals, male plants, the weather (too dry or too wet) the rippers, cops and the blue dye, mold and many other problems so cater for them and if they all come through then bonus. If over 75% fail then at least you'll come out with something. Good luck and go hard

Wake up you fool, stop talking shit. Your acting like something outa the soprano's. Most land owners wouldn't even get in the shit if they didn't know what was on their land.
You sound like a pigshit. maybe you r one.

Ethics are a personal thing, as you can see by the variety of responses here.

Obviously you have no problem breaking the law. I agree that it would be more considerate to find government land to plant on. It could also be more risky.

Don't feel bad about moving dead trees around, that's a little silly. What you should feel bad about is the possibility of abandoning your plants and letting them procreate. They can spread and spread like thistles, choking out grass and other plants. If the owner runs cattle on the land, you could eventually have a very damaging effect on the operation, since there would be less grass and cattle don't like to eat grass around weeds. The worst thing is they lose potency!

You sound like you care about what you do and its effect on others, so just follow your conscience.

So, your first and second post was to tell me to go for it ... then tell me I'm an idiot and call me a pig? I have 700+ posts, you have 2 and you call me a pig? Have you taken your medication recently? seriously, that's some Split Personality Psyco shit.

I really don't want to do something that I will regret later. If I grew on his land and the guy got busted I would never forgive myself.

But disrupting the operation of the land is of no concern. The owner doesn't use the land .... at all. Not for cattle (it's more of a forrest than a field) with no grass, and not for anything else. No one has been in the area (from the looks of it) for at least 5 years. Can't be sure.

I just don't want to go down a road that I can't come back from, if you know what I mean.

:Well as a land owner, I would absolutely fucking hate it if someone was gurilla growing on my land. Number of reasons not too doo it, here 1 or two reasons why"

1) u could seriously hurt ur self out there (snake bite, broken ankle) and how are u going to explain to someone why your there??

2) the owner could be a nasty cunt who is dead set against weed in all its forms and he could set a trap (fox trap, trip wires, rigged firearms), detonating cord etc - for all u dumb fuck ass internet wannabie growers, this shit goes on all the time, dont beleive me, just keep going the way u are

3) u do get busted and the owner wants the book thrown at u : growing, tresspassing, property damage, etc.

Look mate, for ur own benefit listen to me, grown on ur own joint. If u listen to all these fuckheads on here encouraging u to do shit like that, u'll end up getting fucked up. Its easy for some smart ass fuck wit here to encouraging actions for they will never bear any consequence. Think about it.

Put ur self in the owners shoes!

Yeah...The only way to ensure you won't bring harm to this guy some how would be to not plant there. If you find a park somewhere, the only one to get busted would be you.

Just going to throw something out here...What if you asked permission? What if you got to know this person? Maybe they were a hippy when younger.

This was what I was initially thinking. Two or three plants would not be noticed, or at least that is what I suspect.

And I don't know about anyone else's grow ops around here.

However, after thinking about it, I think I'm starting to side more with you LOW. If the true owner doesn't agree with pot being grown on his land, things could end badly. I doubt he would set up traps and the like, especially because he could get sued for that. But, he could do alot of other things to make me uncomfortable. Plus, if the cops find it I would never forgive myself for doing that to the owner. And even if he doesn't mind, I cant imagine that he wouldn't care that someone is growing anything on his land without his permission. If I was in his shoes, I would probably be pissed if someone put a tomato garden on my land, let alone an illegal garden.

I would love to be able to grow on the land, but I think the consequences outweigh the benefits.

I think it would be great to get to know him, make friends, then ask permission, but I don't think it's likely. The owner lives like 20 miles away, and I think it would be odd to either knock on his door to ask if he wants a new friend, or follow him around to find out what his hobbies are and try and start a conversation. But who knows, I might get to know him at some point, but I would want to take things one at a time.

On a side note, the only federally or state owned land that I know of is owned by the highway comm. (and is visible from the highway), or smaller parks that kids and families go to visit. Is there any website or search engine that I can use to find wilderness preservations, federal parks, or game lands so I can find some kinda spot? Just messing around on google maps I can see a few preservations scattered around, but most of them are only like 2-3 acres in size. Not really big enough to find a "hidden" patch.

I'll be brief... I own quite a bit of land myself.... I would be very pissed to find someone has trespassed against me and installed something which could potentially cause me huge legal bills and/or the loss of MY land. I put it in the same category as ATV's. Ride on YOUR property, not other folks.

Can't grow on your own property? The previous posts about PUBLIC lands was the right alternative. First of all, no one will shoot you if caught on PUBLIC land. As a side note...don't EVER visit your grow armed with a weapon.

Good Luck... :peace:

out. :blsmoke:
