Hey my set up is about 500w of CFL, x7 40w + x10 23w, in a 5x2 footer. With Scotts moisture advantage soil mix and veg time of 1 month, how much grams per plant or grams per watt could I hope to achieve? Currently running white widow and chronic x northern lights. The plant looks like this after 4 weeks veg and 4 weeks flower
this site has a shit ton of sarcasm and teenage jokes which gets annoying but idk what you should expect but at 1gram per day i highly doubt it will last you until your next havest

On the metric side 454 grams I believe.......ah fuck man just grow it out and see what ya get and improve on your next go. It doesn't look like a bad plant but more light would be a big boost.

Lol you asked one of everyones favorite questions!! Next ask about defloration and flushing ;)

There are too many factors that are unknown to us that we could determine what your yeild will be. For example I can't say because i never grew that strain in that medium with that light setup with your nutes with that veg period in your growing environment and so on... that's why everyones being a dick lol

The only experience knowledge I can provide you towards your question is that with 1 plant in dwc bubbleponics, no plant training, 5x 42w cfl's, 3.5' tall, gh flora series nutes and no prior growing experience I acheived approx. 90 grams in approx. 100 days with a bag seed strain and then a blue mystic strain. Almost a gram per day for a very low cost and maintence, so you could acheive what you are looking for with the right setup. Sounds like you could and are willing to jump to bigger options though so look into some hid lighting and plant training techniques and you'll be set with more than you need. Research, research, research and one day you will become a dick on RIU! Happy growing and good luck!

PS: probably 21 grams a plant, give or take

Well I just ordered a new light.a 600w hps with dimmable digital ballast. I hope I won't run into heat and noise problems in my 5x2' tent in my bedroom. My temp stays at 80 currently with 500w of cfl setup.

Is this ballast fanless? It's the cheapest setup from ebay

There's a fan built in that blows through the ballast. It doesn't make any heat and very little noise. But that 600-watt bulb sure will heat it up. You can do complete grows with the HPS but in my experience I get better veg using MH.

with a 600 watt hps you will definitely have heat issues. i went with a 400 watt and am glad i did and couldn't imagine having to deal with higher temperatures. i also use a T5 to veg.
If I could buy a T5 right now I would gladly veg with it. Cheaper, cooler and effective. Less space needed too. My setup back home in AK was a T5 to veg under a month then a MH for a full month and then into the flower room.

It is dimmable so I believe I will be able to run it at 250w, 400w and 600w. Also the 600w package was $40 less than the 400w! I couldn't believe that

Also I'm using 6500k cfl for veg and they're enough for me since I can leave them in there as long as they need veg basically

get a inline fan and enclosed air cooled hood, I always keep my eye out on the second hand sites like CL. You can find some sweet deals

As for yield on this grow, I would not think you will get more than 1/8 dry. Cannabis will lose 70-80% weight in the drying and curing process. The 600w will increase your final weight by A LOT. But, you are going to need ducting and a decent in line fan to run with that wattage in that tent. I would suggest a cool tube, at least a 4" fan and an additional booster fan for outflow.

I agree that your first attempt looks very good and you can get much better with the proper knowledge. Do some research and find your own answers. Do not take anyone's 'advice' on your grow. There are a lot of people who seem to think they were born with a bud coming out their ass but know less than nothing. A lot of good folks on this forum though, very helpful if you ask intelligent questions. Tons of info on the web videos, blogs, text books...you name it.

Good Luck and Great Growing

PS The grow medium you are using is a miracle grow product with a different name. Not too say that MG products suck, because contrary to popular opinion plants do grow in MG. But too get better and or maximum yield, denser nuggies with better taste, you should research different options.

Welcome to RIU

Just in case you were thinking about using your light at 250w until you can get the cooling equipment, you may want to rethink that. In that tent even a 250w will put off intense heat and you will not be able to close the tent with the lights on.

you're going to use that and more trying to control the heat. when i was doing my research on what i wanted to buy, if i recall correctly, if you need to dim the bulb because of heat it is a waste.

yeah, i am glad i just went with the T5 initially. i did not want to mess around with CFL bulbs trying to get them just right. my eight-bulb two-foot T5 was under $90 and well worth it! obviously, i'd prefer to run MH to veg but the T5 does a nice job. being able to run like you were in AK is exactly what i want to do! add the MH for some veg time before flower would be awesome.

A lot of those cheapo's don't have a fuse and the breaker is shit. Just so you know... you might be replacing the DOA bulb or ballast very soon.

They are fused. The fuse is right under/part of were your 120/240 goes in it's a little plate that pops off. If you just run a cheap booster fan, about $20 from the top port,it should expel a majority of the hot air.

I'm open to advice on what fans to get for this purpose.
