Fact or fiction: Males grow quicker?

I keep hearing that males grow faster than females? Is this true or a myth?

It's just that one of my 3 plants has shot up compared to the other 2. It is already over an inch and the second set of leaves are starting to form whereas the other 2 are half the size.

Cheers guys!

well it flowers earlier compared to a female. i mean mine did im not sure what the pros has to say about these. on your situation you dont have to worry about anything yet, over an inch is not even an issue that your other plants are growing faster nor you get more sets of leaves. every single plant grows different way no 2 things are alike just like the fat kid in the picture and the skinny kid on the background

From what goes on in my head, I would say males tend to grow taller faster. A taller male would make it easier in nature to pollinate the lady's. but it is probably more strain specific then that. remeber that patience is the key to sexing your plants if thats what you are trying to do. Or are you talking about all female plants with diffrent pheno's??

I've noticed faster vertical growth with males and sooner preflowers, however I would like to assume that related cannabis plants would have similar growth speeds and fruit production as there is little evolutionary benefit to the male being done before the female, so I would imagine it's safe to say that if they're the same strain, the male will be right alongside the female (all the better to fuck up your crop if you don't notice it).

It is a fact that in nature males tend to grow taller faster. If the males tower above the females the pollen is better distributed and has a better chance of reaching a female.

Can you use this fact to figure out if your fast growing plants are males? Probably not. There are too many other factors involved. Only time will tell for sure.
