I'm 25 days into flower should I clean more of the fan leaves ...how do my buds look
its fine to defoliate, watch some youtube videos, there are a ton of side by side comparisons of defo vs. all natural, and you will get get as many replies from both sides of the coin stating their way is always best......really, it depends on the strain and your light source. For indoor and LEDs I would definitely be trimming the crap out of my plants at that point....unless they were outdoor, then there’s no benefit. Your plants look great, clip some of the bigger fans that are covering large numbers of buds and see how she responds.

Like I said, any reply to this topic always ends up with a ton of responses, and literally everyone thinks they are correct. Yes, pulling off all the leaves is bad, pulling off a few big ones in week 2-3 of flower usually helps a lot......there are many videos that talk about benefits, timing and amounts of defo that is helpful. Do what I did, get a bunch of clones/strains, defo the hell out of a couple, moderately defo a couple and leave a couple alone...see what works, what your strain and setup benefits from. Whatever you do dont let anyone else (including me) tell you what will work for you....just experiment and enjoy.

Here’s a thought .... just let it grow.
Not trying to disagree, but there is only so many times you can just “let it grow” especially after 30+ years of growing and literally hundreds of plants and strains. And what does that phrase actually mean? That we shouldnt experiment? So is Scrogging, hydro and the like acceptable since it wouldnt be natural? For me, I’m a scientist by education and nature and i like to try new things. Specifically for defoliation, i found that Scott Reach’s GTH#1 LOvES for me to defo the hell out of her, regardless of setup or light she makes bigger buds and more leaves, easily through week 8-9 of flower its fine to zip through all but the smallest leaves and get golf balls. However my landrace afghani responds terribly to defoliation after week 2 of flower...before that it makes her make more leaves and branches! So, if i just “let it grow” i’d never have learned how to get my biggest buds from just those two examples. I say try everything and see what you and your girls like, whether in the bedroom or the growroom ;)

You can defoliate if you want to , I do it all the time in flower, usually around week 3 and 6. In you're case I dont really see the need to take any off though

EDIT: take pics in regular light, none of that blurple shit

:weed:I've been experimenting with defoliation for the last 3 grows, doing a little more each grow. I would say it definitely helps with yield and quality of buds. I leave the very top set of big fan leaves and remove all the big fan leaves below. Leave all the smaller leaves and bud sites. I like to do it in week 3 or 4 of flower, when I'm certain the stretch is over. People will disagree, but I don't care, it works for me. I wouldn't bother doing it outdoors, not needed. But when you're running 450watts in a 4x4 like me, it sure helps!

It's called pruning ;)
And it’s also called training your plant to adhere to the inverse square law of artificial lighting.

double the distance and you half the light.

I like to train and prune so that I leave around 1.5-2ft of plant Material within the useable penetration of my light.

1000w light approx 4ft of penetration
600w light approx 3ft penetration
400w light approx 2ft of penetration
250w light approx 1ft penetration.

what this means is anything over this penetration limit will not grow as intended.

leave it grow is fine if you’re dealing with a 1000w light and 1 plant.

each light has a maximum active growing area.

1000w 5ft x 5ft (approx)
600w 4ft x 4ft
400w 3ft x 3ft
250w 2ft x 2ft

The idea being that you want all of your bud sites to be within the penetration and active growing area of the lighting you’re using.

this is mainly for HPs as I don’t utilise LED So couldn't possibly Comment on penetration and active area of LED’s.

yeah it does happen all the time, every year. And even though i’m full legal in a medical state i know well enough not to feel safe posting pics of a grow online to appease a “challenge”....all good here, you’re free to ask for help any time and go ahead and post your own pics ;)
