FINALLY, first legit grow room, in an attic

Hey Fogo, I built a 4'x4' sealed room with CO2, a small window AC, dehu, fans, and a Sentinel control-all and it worked perfectly --- on paper. When I built it and got it rolling the combo of the AC and dehu wreaked havoc on my plants, I think the temp and humidity swings were just too severe because of the small volume of space. The leaves on the plants looked dried out and the plants suffered but they still produced a decent amount of bud. Ever since then I have just been running the 'box' as I call it on constant ventilation so I lose whatever benefit from CO2 but the plants are completely happy and lush but of course yield is down. I suspect that you may face some of the same challenges. Your bagseed is sure looking nice, well done!

I also built a vortex compost tea brewer from 1.5" PVC and a 5 gallon water jug from a dispenser, it is run by an air pump and it kicks ass, I highly recommend it mainly just 'cause it's so damn cool to play with. Toughest part was making the base tee into a five way cross, like this site shows: http://www.subtleenergies.com/ormus/tw/turbo-vortex.htm
I like how this guy did it but if you are making one of these I have a couple of suggestions otherwise good luck man.
hey man, glad to hear that you were able to make your grow room sufficient. i know the feeling of trying to make something work.

yeah it was really hard to get my temp and humidity on lock. what i had to do was get a 4" inline fan to push nice 75 degree air into my room. its pulling air from one of my closets. with that, a/c and carbon filter i have awesome ventilation!

and thanks for the link, i have been thinking about building my own version of a vortex. but like you said, it would be small. i would only need to make about 1.5 gallons at a time.

day 22

im really starting to get some great trichome production now. i love seeing that stuff

also now lots of the lower fan leaves are beginning to yellow, giving its energy to the buds :weed:.

The more sativa one

This one the most stretchy, but its leaves seem to be the most indica

this one i really like too, it has a very well rounded game to its growth. one of its clones will be my mother

hey im in the hvac business and we work in attics all the time, a good trick to keeping the grow temps down in an attic is put a water sprinkler on your roof. You could put it on a water timer and it will keep the temps in your attic wayyyy lower, especially if you do it before the sun starts hitting it.. just wanted to share that lil trick.
also if you're worried about heat, possibly use silica, insulate the plant buckets, and think about LED's in the future. Also possibly a mini-split and some r8 insulation, not that thin stuff thats like r 4 without an air gap r6 with. Temp differences in peak summer/winter can cause sweating on the insulation if not insulated properly and will cause mold issues.

ill be making a few changes to my room but not too much. i thought about extra insulation, but honestly there is no need because my temps are absolutely perfect 24 hours a day. But next spring i may have to do that before we hit mid summer. ill cross that bridge when i get there

but yeah i have definitely thought about using LEDs. i mean, who hasnt? they are just so damn expensive.

NOW, CAN EVERYONE PLEASE STOP GIVING ME SHIT ABOUT HEAT!!!!! im not stupid and i can problem solve better up there myself than you guys can in your seat. please and thank you

i clearly take pictures of my thermometer. (the first pic of it in this thread has extreme highs and lows because it wasnt reset from when i built the room)

everyone keeps throwing me these obvious fucking suggestions.

one thing i hate about this forum, is that everyone assumes that everyone else is just a brain dead idiot.

He gets mad when someone tells him he is going to have heat issues for growing in an attic.. It's like telling someone they may need to get a heater when you grow underground. He obviously can't take peoples opinions. He is a decent grower. IDK why he flips out occasionally. Anyways cheers.

looking good. I grow in my attic also but I bought a tent to use instead of building a room. my house also has sprayed foam insulation in the attic so its almost the same temp as the main part of the house. keep up the good work.
