Good stuff.

So the solution to the problem was just riding it out. Either your mix was to hot or you overfed. If I'm doing everything basically by the book, I tend to stay the course. These things usually work themselves out. If I see it spreading past 2 leaves, I know I have a problem.

People get way too worked up and freaked out about the slightest yellowing, an extra day of "doing nothing" is usually all you need.

In my 5+ years I have never washed mine out before using either but I use a quality brand of coco (canna). Not saying you should, just never had to. Like you said about washing after using, its so cheap I tend to chuck it rather than re-use it.

Peace, enjoy the goodness of coco! :joint:

Had to dig for the seed 2 days ago, noticed she didnt pop so put her back in & re-watered.
Dug for her again yesterday and saw that she has finally popped.. Just waiting for her to surface now :)

Today, 30th.
Starting to yellow again, browning is a little worse. Trying to get some Cal/mag supplements today.
20131229_102943.jpg
Yesterday i notice the leaf tips on the second level had kinda lost their shine.. Had a matt spray look to them, if that makes sence?
Anyway theres the pic from today, leaves on both side curl up at the tips & are starting to dry up. (Just like that bottom set, without the yellowing)
Any ideas?

Someone may have mentioned this, I haven't looked through all the replies, just the original post. Things to keep in mind when growing in coco - when the plants are young, let the coco dry out before your next watering. This will encourage a more robust root system as they will have to search for more water. If you are not using coco specific nutrients, you MUST use cal-mag, it is essential as the properties of coco do not allow for it to "hold on" to any calcium or magnesium. Always monitor your pH and PPM for a more successful grow. I have been growing in coco for years, if you have anymore questions take a look at my grow journal (link in my signature) and ask there. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have :)

JB,
Contradictory info as always. Coco can be treated like soil or like a hydro media. The coco experts tend to use it as a hydro medium. Only you can chose how YOU are going to use it. But choose one and don't waffle. Coco is a complex medium and nobody will convince me it's good for newbies. I've seen too may threads with plants dying on coco to believe that.
JD
I have to agree with you 100%. All the shitbi read and was told not to do while growing in coco was a lot of bogus info and waste of time.

UPDATE.

I think for sure i overfed the Cotton Candy.

The White Widow seed that popped has not grown a taproot..
Have watered again (last try)

Just purchased the dr90 so thinking of starting 2 more, either: Thunder Bud, Thunder Bud Haze or Strawberry diesel :)

The CC was is just being grown for clones, Probably going to give her to a friend insted (If i start 2 more)

Man.. how to make this ez for u.. stop looking at ur plants every 5 min stop watering them until they dry get the ph right that is half ur problem there. when u feed nvr go full strength ggo half strength and stay there unless ur plants look hungry. Get the ph right..

i don't think your cotton candy is ready for full strength nutes, and you definitely shouldn't be watering it everyday. water based on weight as well as the dryness of the coco.

i like coco and haven't had any problems i would attribute to using it.
