First grow, AK-48 from seed under 400w HPS.

Got to the hydroponics store at 4 only to find out they closed at 2 for easter weekend. =(

Guess the mylar will have to wait until monday or tuesday. =/

Here's an update. I swear there are preflowers. I tried to capture what I believe to be pistils in some of the pictures.

Anyway, peace.

i noticed on some of you seedlings(particularily third pic down which you labelled as the plant having a head start) leaves look a bit crinkled and wavy and delicate
i noticed the same thing on my seedlings a while ago
do you (or anyone) know why their leaves start looking a bit worse for wear???
x

in my experience looks like wind damage from your fans.

Day 20

As promised, mylar entered the equation today. My room's lookin' all shiny and purdy :)

Since yesterday the AK-48's have shit out a bunch of pistils from their preflowers, which is very nice to see. Hard to see in the pictures as of yet... so no teen bud porn to show you :(

If you look hard enough you can see them though.

At the hydroponics store I also bought some bat guano. The girls got their first taste of fertilizer today :). I used 4 teaspoons to 2 gallons of water to be gentle for their first feeding. Hopefully my inexperience didn't cause me to fuck up my plants doing this, but I betcha they'll like the nitrogen in their second or so week of veg.

And... it seems one of my plants is cheating on me. In one of the pictures you'll see an instance of spontaneous life. I composted the 3 seeds that didn't germinate, and this is my first grow using store bought potting soil, so your guess as to where the seedling came from is as good as mind.

Oh, I forgot to mention, that's a carbon scrubber above and to the left of the lamp, you can see it in one of the first pictures. My parents asked if my plants were already flowering (haha :P), so I realized it was time to install one.

Looking nice and full in there now! I wonder where the seedling came from? Looks like your plants are making friends at least :)

All the plant's are looking fine some have a little leaf curling but nothing to worry about temps may be a tad high. The one thing that i would advice you not to do and that is to have other plants growing in or around cannabis because some will attract certain insects that inturn could cause problems with the cannabis. Now is the time to start hitting them with some nutrients and sit back and watch the grass grow before your very eye's.Peace keep green tyke.........................................

You're right, some of the plants, especially the bagseed, are looking a little sad. I'm beginning to wonder if the circular 1 gallon pots are just inadequate for healthy root growth.

Those veggies are movin' out as soon as we get some soil for our garden outside. The eucalyptus is also moving soon, as is the cactus. The cactus just needed some help from the light to recover from an uprooting. So far the ladybugs have kept my room free of pests, but you're right - the less attention the better.

I'll keep working on the temps. Thanks!

Yesterday between the 12 of them they got 4 (generous) tablespoons of mexican bat guano diluted into 2 gallons of water, so we'll have to see how they respond!

Many thanks! It's a party in there ^^ Yeah it's a tad strange. I gentle checked to see how deep it went and it looks like it crawled all the way from the bottom of the damn pot... so some dirt containing what i thought was a dud seed must have found its way into the pot by some miracle. I could have sworn I chucked them all. Oh well!

Bonus anyway, are you going to get it into it's own pot?

Bonus anyway, are you going to get it into it's own pot?

Definitely a neat bonus :). That may be tricky. I'm going to have to transplant the bigger plant in the pot to properly extract this seedling. From what I can tell, its root ball is underneath the bulk of the larger plant's root ball. So.... bleh =/. Tricky procedure. I'm thinking I will use superthrive to lessen the stress to the larger plant. Since they received bat guano they've all perked right up so it would be a shame to injure one.

Potting the new seedling will be difficult because its stem underground stretches about 4 inches to where the stray seed must have lodged itself at the bottom of the pot unbeknown by me.

Well, I'll be sure to post pictures of how it goes as soon as I try it. It'll be interesting to see what happens... it's been underground for almost a month.

Cannabis is no weak plant, to say the least. Gotta admire its desire to survive.

loving those huge Indica leaves, beautiful. How far are you till flowering time?

I appreciate the compliment :) Thanks for stopping by!

Flowering... hmm. Good question. They're 21 days old now and beginning to show some serious preflowers. I guess I might veg them for another 15-20 days depending on forum feedback, but this plant is well acclaimed for being an extremely fast growing plant, so I guess we'll have to see.

Being that this is my first grow, what I just said might be hogwash, but there's my estimate. Would love feedback.

Since I applied bat guano yesterday they've put on nearly an inch each. At that rate, being that this is an indoor grow and the 7 mystery seeds are moving outside as soon as march 2-4 weekend hits, I could be flowering the 4 I don't want as mothers pretty soon!

:peace:

Ahh ebay thanks, just started a master kush for my first grow and I'm worried about the smell also got some super lemon haze but I'll practice with the kush first anyway keep us posted can't wait to see your AK's at harvest.

Thanks a lot man :) Sounds like you have some stinkers on the way, but those sound tasty. :weed: Definitely gonna be posting some plant vagina soontime. You can make yourself a very half decent carbon scrubber for under 20 dollars. There are all sorts of guides on this forum for various forms of the machine. All it takes it to move good amounts of air through activated carbon in pantyhose. It'll devour the odours.

April 09, Day 23

Still having some issues with yellowing leaf tips. Got some half decent pictures of the problem in today's update.

Now that veg has truly kicked in these plants are growing almost an inch a day. Today I added superthrive to their water for the first time. Will will see how they respond.

Day 27

A re-potting day.

All 5 of the AK-48's are quite bound up in their 1.5 gallon pots and so 2 of them got to move into the two 3 gallon pots I happened to have handy.

The last 3 will be moving into new 3 gallon pots either tomorrow or the day after. The rest of the plants (mystery seedlings) are either moving outside soon or going to new homes with some of my friends that grow.

I got some pictures while re-potting, enjoy the view under my girl's skirts =]

... and threw in some pics of all of the plants in the room with closeups of the AK-48's foliage under the HPS.

Also snapped a pic of some of the pre-flower pistils, they're circled in red in one of the pictures. Enjoy the premature bud porn :)

I hope everyone is enjoying the spring weather!

Peace guys and gals,
-monkey

They are looking great! Hope they are liking having more wiggle room. My guess in regards to your yellowing tips is that you might have a bit of a micronutrient deficiency since it is starting from the top of the plant. I'm no expert though, so I would look into it further/get more opinions if you're stuck (or might not even be much to worry about?)

Wow they are growing like weeds I'll be happy as hell if I can keep mine that healthy. My exhaust fan broke and it got up to 110 for like 8 hours but I think they will pull through anyway keep up the pics can't wait to see what those buds look like.
