First Grow Input

I will be starting my first grow in 2-3weeks when I get paid again. I have a few newb questions and would like some input from some more seasoned growers on my set-up/plan. Thanks for your help in advance!

Okay I have a small grow "closet" (though it isn't really in a closet) in my basement that is about 3 x 2 x 5H and here are my plans:
-Lighting: 18/6 http://www.amazon.com/Digital-hydroponic-Dimmable-Ballast-Pressure/dp/B005HB3L6W/ref=sr_1_4?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1377551617&sr=1-4&keywords=hps+grow+kit I also plan on lining the walls ceiling and floor with Panda Plastic.

-Ventilation and odor control: Also 18/6 240CFM fan on one side of the cool tube with aluminum duct on the other side going out of the closet and into my carbon filter.

-Climate control: the closet is right next to my bedroom in an unfinished part of the basement, but I have insulated it well and it get's most of it's air flow from my bedroom which has air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter and a dehumidifier set to 40% all year round. I will be getting a thermometer in the grow closet and if temperature becomes a problem I will get an intake fan so the grow room gets more air from my room.

-Plants: I want to eventually have a monthly grow that I can harvest every month so my plan is to start with 4-5 plants depending on if all my seeds germinate, since the closet is rather small I will at least be starting with auto flowers my first grow I plan on buying 5 seeds from Bonza (2 Nirvana Northern Lights auto, Nirvana Blue Mystic auto, Nirvana Bubbleicious auto and an Easy Ryder). I don't know if I will actually grow all 5 to harvest if they all germinate I will keep at least 4 and may scrap one. Then I plan to add another 4 auto flowers in a month and then maybe switch to 8 a month after a few grows.

-Medium/Nutes: Super Coco http://www.amazon.com/Potting-Heavily-Amended-Super-Nutrients/dp/B00CD88B6C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377645799&sr=8-1&keywords=Super+Coco

-Pots: http://www.charleysgreenhouse.com/index.cfm?page=_productdetails&productid=8683&s=treepots&cid1=-99&cid2=-99&cid3=-99

-Training: If the autos grow tall enough that they are getting too close to the light I may imply either LST or SCROG, but I don't think I need to worry about height in this scenario with these plants, but we will see.

-Watering: Since the coco is PH Balanced I will simply water with either tap water or bottled water and there shouldn't be a problem, right?

My only question is what distance from seedlings should I place the MH Bulb and on what intensity? The ballast has settings of 50%, 75% and 100%. I was originally planning on using CFL's in another grow room, but decided to utilize this room instead with HIDs. Also, with auto's when should I switch from MH to HPS, or should I just use HPS for the entire grow? Thanks and happy smoking :joint:.

the mh should be several feet above the seedlings, id say about 5 maybe less since you have a cool tube, put you hand at the surface level where the seelings will be and if its to hot for your hands its to hot for your plants, raise the light until u feel its a comfortable temperature.

I'll get both bulbs regardless since the kit with both is cheaper than just the HPS kit, I just wasnt sure if I should use mh or hps for the seedlings and how theyd react

I noticed that that super cocoonly has enough nutrients if you do 7 gal pots which I don't have room for so I will be using a different medium either coco coir or soil so I will get a ph tester. And okay I knew that was how to test for plants I just wasnt sure if seedlings were more sensitive. Thanks!
