First time outdoor grow questions

How're they looking now mate?
eh one shit storm after another, man I was not prepared for this grow. Outdoor is a whole another animal I have learned.

I got the aphids eliminated, the feed issue fixed and the plants seems to be bouncing back just fine. But then while inspecting the other day I saw a budworm.. I removed and heavily inspected but couldn’t find anymore. I removed the bud that I found the caterpillar on but the next day one bud nearby looked moldy. Chopped that one off and a few others nearby. So far so good.

I sprayed BT but from what I’ve been reading it won’t do much at this stage Of the game. I’ll keep my eyes peeled looking for these little bastards. I’ll post some pictures later today but I’m guessing they still need 3-4 weeks if they can make it.

BT works great but you have to be consistent with spraying the plants while they are in veg. I hate spraying but the damage a hungry hungry caterpillar can do once he starts pooping all over the buds is way worse than spending a few minutes a week mixing up and spraying your ladies.

o I successfully avoided the shit hawks from swooping in and trying to carry me off to their shitty nest but now I’m dealing with a bigger foe.

Shittapillars, started as shit larvae and became a pandemic of shittapillars.

My hero! RIP Mr.Lahey
I’ve started using 1 part hydrogen peroxide 2 parts water to hit the aphids since we are well into flower. It seems pretty effective. Hope you have a great harvest.

Alright went out and looked them over particularly in the area I found the caterpillar and saw a few buds that just didn’t look right so I cut them off anyway. Could have been my mind messing with me but didn’t seem worth the risk. The little sister seems to be avoiding this issue and I keep them about 10 feet apart now to be safe. 3 pics are from the infected plant.

probably 3-4 weeks out? If it keeps spreading I don’t know if I should wait tho right? Cut early I have probably shitty weed but if I keep going it could all turn to shit. This issue is probably best decided in the moment. Any input I’d appreciate!

I always wait, I refuse to take bud until it’s ready. This year has been a helluva learning curve as you say…and I’m a 70 year old long time pot grower.

Now fighting PM on some of the lower fan leaves. Treating as I can. Buds certainly are not ready but not sure how much longer I can hold out. Trying to make it another 2 weeks.. Wish me luck!

What are you using for IPM right now? Just BT?
Currently using Flying Skull Nuke em - Pretty sure its mostly citric acid. Used for pest and mildew. Are you experiencing PM and what are you using?

Right now its only on the bottom of the plant which i'm fine with as I probably would have thrown away the bottom popcorn any way. Plant is just for my consumption so I think they will yield plenty without the bottom. Its only on one plant out of the two that I have. If it progresses up the plant much further I probably will chop that one down. The weather has drastically changed here in Michigan in the past week. A lot of rain and temps at night falling into the mid 30's and only getting up to the high 50's low 60's. Two weeks ago we were in the high 70's low 80's, violent temp changes . First time outdoors tho, lots of learning this year! I get the feeling PM is an issue most northern growers have to contend with..

I think I should have thinned the plant out a lot more then I did, for airflow. Although, I'm not fully convinced that would have prevented it from happening any way. Moisture is air, nothing I can do about that..

Im in Toronto Canada and we’ve been having that same weather. It’s from Fiona over here blasting Atlantic Canada. We’ve had rain for days and I think it going to rain on and off for days more. My poor girls. I put them in a homemade tent with a fan but they still get a little wet. Im hoping I can fight off the pm with the hydrogen peroxide spray I’ve been using for aphids.

Ah, yeah I know you guys out that way have it rough sometimes. I'm in Northern California.

I'm currently spraying with Potassium Bicarbonate. No issues yet. I used it last year for bud washing too and I'm convinced it's pretty good stuff for battling mold. I use Spinosad for worms, haven't seen any yet, only a few moth eggs. By this time last year I was already cutting buds off due to worm damage. I wasn't proactive enough last year and lost some buds before I was able to get a grip on the worm outbreak.

That is the biggest lesson I've learned this year, being proactive vs reactive. Taking notes from this years grow to be better prepared for next year.

Glad to hear things are working out for you this year! Never been to northern Cal, spent a lot of time in the san Diego area and more weekends then I can count in oceanside lol..
