Florida Growers Thread

Hey guys.......central florida here!!!! Wondering how many of you guys run your light cycles during the night (for cooling purposes) I will be running a 465 cage fan , but heat is always an issue in florida. Will it make a difference? I just cant wait for it to get nice and cool in FL, but if my mem serves me correctly that wont be until mid Oct.

Its basically impossible to run indoors in Florida during summer months without an A/C. I run my lights at night and run the a/c 24/7. My AC went off a few times during the light cycle and my temps were 100+

I agree with weed creed. Temps get very hot unless air cooled. I use a portable AC. Picked it up over at Brandsmart a few months back Works great.

Hemlock i think were all leaning towards this way! im going to try my experiment soon to see how that works out for me.

I'm in agreement with all of the above as well. Right now I have a 440 inline fan cooling my room, but I only have a T5 2' 8Tube running. My temp is sitting at 75 and RH is at 60 now that I've properly vented and sealed the room.

I have a portable AC unit on the way for when I move to flowering and have to fire up the 1K hps. Oh ya, I keep my light cycle during the day to avoid detection to hell with the cooling bill and the heat.

Oh ya,

While stressful I had a great weekend over here by the pond. I took my grow closet and redesigned it. I moved the fan and suspended it in the attic, extended my duct work, installed an air vent, and sealed my veg room. (I was inspired by Gypsy's 600 HPS grow tent seal.)

I also topped my plants above the second node to get 4 main colas. (That hurt seeing the girls go from 8 and 9" tall down to 3 and 4 again, it felt like taking a huge step backwards.) Finally I also gave them their first dose of full strength Canna nutes this afternoon.

Since venting and sealing the room I've dropped 6 degrees and 5% humidity, just from better ventilation. Here's to hoping that the girls like their new environment.

OK Let me ask a qudoestion and I will go back and look at the pics but are they using bucks that drain to waste? or recover?

Here in The Tampa Bay Area its like low to mid 90's everyday. so im wondering.... I'm going to try a 15 plant indoor garden 2-4ft tall Hoping for good genetics and at least 6 females.(from bagseed). How many fluorescents warm white and cool light 2 ft. tube would i need to get and are the hoods for them expensive? I think I may do soil or ebb and flow, something simple as its first indoor grow, hoping for 3.5ft-4.5ft plants, how long with those lights will it take to grown 4ft and then bud them? And can I/ should I use flouros for budding? AM i going to have to have a exhaust fan? And could i build something outside under back yard deck to house them. so it doesnt heat or smell the house up and sometimes it can get sunlight.

Yeah... I am looking at having to add a light to the veg room...

The 400w t5 that I kept my moms under won't cut it...

So yeah.. prolly gonna get another 600...

Or I may flower 3 trees with 3 light and harvest a tree every 3 weeks...

Oh and MBlaze uses coco.. he waters to waste... there is a pot in a pot with a hose.. and it drains out to his yard...

you can get a digital HPS 600w HPS form HGTsupply.com for under $250. This is a very good unit with an air cool hood. You should get a good return on your crops. Good luck.

yes the digital greenhouse lights are sweet from htgsupply.

This picture is for sacredherb...These plants are almost 4 foot and I vegged them for 5 weeks which was way to long. The one to the left could of reached 5-6 foot giving the room. I needed to shoot for 3 weeks but I had a veg more since my clones went to hell. Also that light is the 600watt digital unit with hps agromax bulb. ebb and flow homemade unit...homemade hydro units are the only way to go its pointless to spend 400$ on a unit you can make for 100$.

Yes you can use Fluros for budding but you need to switch them to bloom bulbs...you won't get a great yield from fluros unless you load up all angles with fluros.

Thanks Jose and WC. I appreciate the help. I have a spare bedroom but only want to use a fraction of the space, does it need to be closed off like a cabinet or generic frame or can the plants be out in the open(will it waste the light?) As of right now i have nothing for fresh are intake, or circulation, the smell. What do I need?

I placed an order with htg last wednesday evening. I got an email confirming my payment through paypal in a few minutes, and haven't heard a thing since. When I check on the status, it says 'in process'.

Is this usual for them?

When I placed an order several months ago, it took awhile before I recieved the order. Since that order, I visit the store in Melbourne to restock.

YOu have to close off the area and use a carbon filter. I use both a carbon filter and an ozone generator (OZN Jr) from HGTsupply. I have no noticable odors.

Mine was the same...

But it was updated when they shipped...

Did you place the order online?

If so, may I suggest that next time you call them...

I have gotten really good deals by speaking to their people.. even better than the net...

They are reputable... I would not worry...

And congrats!!!! you'll love it!!!:hump:
