Foliar feeding...

How old should my plants be before i can foliar feed? They are currently a week old and i was planning on using miracle grow all purpose plant food diluted 1/3... Also can you guys please share any tips/facts about foliar feeding .. I've never tryed this before.. Thx

You shouldnt feed your plant yet it is to young. You need to wait until its at least 3 weeks old and I would dilute the MG nutes for foliar feeding something like 10-1 or maybe even 15-1. If you foliar feed any plant 1/3 the recommended amount of MG you are going to burn the plants unless they are at least 40 days old. You shouldnt even use the 1/3 MG for regular feeding because you will burn the plant unless its like at least a month old.

you shouldnt use miracle grow at all PERIOD. if you wanna foliar feed use dutchmasters liquid light with penatrator or u can use soap as a wetting agent.

i foliar feed but mix up a gallon of ph'd water for my spray bottle and add only 1 tsp epsom salt that makes em really thrive and green and once every week i add a few ml of the flora nova grow or bloom depending on what stage im in but i never add nutes and maybe only 1/2 tsp epsom salt to my spray mix till they get over a month old!

Actually if you are going to use MG the best ones they make for your gals is Miracle gro tomato for vegatative growth and their bloom boost for flower. Only after 3 weeks at least. But read the tab inside the box! Most people make the mistake of not reading the inside of the box because it says 1 teaspoon per gallon for indoor or potted plants! On the outside of the box it says 1 tablespoon, do not do that lol. This is a labeling problem that has given Mg a bad name, and it is something that just baffles me why they don't put all the instructions on the back. So remember 1 teaspoon per gallon every 1-2 weeks.

I wouldn't use miracle grow at all. It's a salt based nutrient so it will lead to nutrient lock. That said foliar feeding works very well. I've seen clones explode with roots from foliar feeding only.

All powdered nutrients are salt based and the liquid ones usually are too with an added amount of sulfuric acid to keep it fresh. But the salt levels are so diluted. If you figure 1 teaspoon per gallon 1-2 weeks with the flushing of plain water in between those times its less than the amount most people add to there soils with epsom salts. It's good to flush your plants a couple times through out there life cycle anyways because of the natural buildup of salts if using nutrients or not. But I agree with foliar feeding while cloning helps produce better roots. I use a nutrient with a high phosphate and you can actually see the roots coming out the top of the medium. Nitrogen actually inhibits root growth, and phosphate promotes it. But you can over do it, provide the cutting with too many nutrients and they don't need to produce roots.

a tip for foliar feeding. start at the bottom part of the stock and work your way up the plant. i foliar feed every other week with a produt called magic green. i start in veg all the way through flower. all my babies get foliar fed.

I agree mongo, every other week keeps them lush and green. From my experience no more than once a week. I've read some people saying they do it every day, which will cause discoloration.

i foliar feed mine only when i do my res changes around every 7-14 days. and dont do it before lights out if flowering ive seen it stay too damp too long and cause fungus! i foliar feed in morning when i do my res changes and leave my oscillating fan on!
