forklift class

I was training a guy and not really paying attention as well as I should've been ... I heard some commotion by the loading dock so I come out and my trainee (who was loading 4400lb steel coils onto a flatbed) had the forklift sideways with the rear wheels hanging off the trailer. Bonus, my boss was out there and I walked out of the office eating a cheeseburger.

So I told everyone to calm down, guided the kid to basically hold still until I climbed out there, and then I righted the forklift with my cheeseburger still in my hand and called my boss a fatass. He almost promoted me but I quit to become a superhero.

Wow that really sounds ridiculous now that I type it out, but it's actually true haha.

I can pick up a dime with a flat forklift, that's a fun trick

i knew of a guy who was moving a very large die with a lift next to a loading dock. There was no guard rail. He was driving forward blindly instead of backwards like he should've. His left side tires went off the edge. causing the lift to fall in. since he wasn't buckled in he fell first and the lift on top of him. pinning him beneath it. They were able to get his wife to the scene to say his goodbyes cuz as soon as they lifted it off him he bled out in a matter of minutes. The really horrible thing is he shouldn't have even been working. He had already retired from a good job and was drawing a nice pension. He just got bored and wanted to go back to work.

So true, lots of fun fucking around but serious stuff happens sometimes too and all of a sudden shit ain't cute. Guy at my job was killed when a pole jeep hit him in the chest. Pushed him right through the back of his jeep (forklift) and he died shortly after. Truck drivers have been killed when poorly loaded by careless forklift operators, etc.

Anyone who's ever had a forklift on its two side wheels knows how quick fun turns to "oh shit!"

I've also had my tires break through trailer floors a couple times ... Scares the shit out of ya every time. Not fun

Safety first with those fork lifts!
My one friend was driving one at work, doing his job and some tricks.
He wasnt watching where he was going in reverse and turned his head at the last moment.
There was a pile of jagged scrap metal piled up and it ripped his eyelid off but didnt hurt his eye.
He was uncircumcised and the doctors used that skin for his new eyelid.

and ya know, he's been cock-eyed ever since. :eyesmoke:
