My dad is a dairy farmer, and he doesn't use BST. Honestly though, I don't think there's any problems from people drinking the milk that could possibly come from it. The stuff is identical to what the cow's body produces naturally, it's just used to increase the hormone levels.

My dad doesn't use it because it has a negative effect on the cows, and because he just doesn't like the idea of it. It increases their risk of mastitis, which is one of the main problems dairy cows get. I know of farmers that use it, but it's kind of expensive and a hassle, so a lot of times they just use it on their highest-producing cows.

Still, I can see why they'd want to can the story. This is exactly the sort of story that would send consumers into a panic over nothing. People are wary of technology in general and even if there's the slightest hint that some new technology has a potential harmful effect, it can cause widespread panic. But there's absolutely no way this stuff causes cancer, any more than milk in general would cause cancer, so the panic caused by that story would be unnecessary.

Hey Doc, Baaa, Baaa, Baaa. Get it.kiss-ass
You're saying I'm a sheep because I'm not going into a panic over something I actually understand from first-hand experience?

BST sucks because of what it does to the cows. It "uses them up" faster. Honestly, I don't like the idea of farmers using BST to increase production, but the idea that it causes cancer in people is fucking ridiculous.

A typical Foxnews headline would read: "FoxNews - Fair and Balanced, and coming up on the O'Reilly Factor, 10 reasons why voting Democrat is a sign you support terrorism."

So I can only conclude its some sort of Reno 911 spoof of reality.

you have to admit it's pretty ironic that Bill O'reilly calls his little place the no spin zone
Ironic? In what way? O'Reilly has blasted Bush right along with Chris Dodd, Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank. If anyone on Fox News is middle of the road, its O'Reilly. In fact, listener/watcher surveys have pointed out that over half of his audience considers themselves to be Democrats or Indepentents. Here's info from the PEW organization: http://people-press.org/report/?pageid=1353
