Foxtailing

Ok- so aside from the closeness to light issue this girl has had in a couple of leaves here- the more pressing question is why is this plant of 8 from seed the only one doing this foxtail thing? The only difference is the proximity to the exhale Co2 bag I have hung in the back of the cabinet at the top so it hopefully affects all the girls... Is it coincidence? Or could this possibly be caused by its location to the Exhale bag? And does fox tailing affect the potency/quality of bud or is just aesthetics?

Took a look at your pics and I'd say it's safe to assume you've over PK'ed your plant[too much bloom booster] I know you said it's the only one affected BUT, even though its the same stain, it could very well be a different Phenotype of the strain[different growth structure, aromas, appearance, oil production, potency]... that being said, it may have different tastes for nutrient strengths.

I'd not clone off that one and only take the ones which could handle the nutes you're currently running. Unless it's that much better, grows more uniform, or is more potent and you'd like to figure it out.

Low on the Nutrient and you'll be happy n sappy

Foxtailing is sometimes a result of environmental factors but most times its just a matter of genetic diversity.
It doesn't affect quality at all. It doesn't lend to great bag appeal however and growers sometimes avoid it by culling affected plants from the herd. Obviously don't take cuttings from or regenerate after harvest to avoid another round of foxtailed plants. CO2 doesn't influence foxtailing in Cannabis.

Heat can do it no doubt. The rest of his plants were good2 go... so I'm ruling that out

Great- well I appreciate the insights. I will halve the nutes next feed and will not use any clones from ol' foxy here... ;)

Meh, fox tails are only bad for bag appeal, I pay it no mind. Here are some vortex I did 2 years ago that all foxtailed...I cloned all and glad I did. I couldn't give two hoots about its fox tailing if its a good producer.

Nice looking bud
Some of the best bud I smoked was foxtailed and I could just break off 1 of the tails wrap a rizzla/blunt round it then your good to go. Even bag appeal was good because people where thinking it was a new special type of bud lol

I'd say this is a light leak or revegging due to lights been left on longer than 12 hours, if not then all the best but week 7 and all them fresh pistils suggest a bit of revegging here. If it has you will get a considerably longer flowering period and it will be weaker than normal, this isn't foxtailing as a strain tendency imo. Don't worry they aren't herms either, too many fresh pistils :bigjoint:

To stop fox tailing in sativa, try 11/13 on/off or even 10/14. Usually means in its genetics there is a strain from the tropics close to the equator.

My last grow, with a strain I had run for 5 grows, I had 1 plant out of 6 foxtail with maybe one other attempting to. No CO2 addition. :)

I did add a 4 bulb t5 full of blues that grow. Twice these blues were left on for more than 12 hours during flower. Heat was stable, but there also were a couple days where the canopy was in the 90s. These are indicas though but I wondered too whether they might be a plant of the equator as they eat the UV up.

In any case I do wonder about the most probable cause.
