Hey thanks so much...but honestly the game changer for me was to stop using soil. Really the results came from the manure.
Every grow is a learning process and I have really had to learn how to tweak everything to make it work up here! I appreciate the love though

Because I don't use any "dirt" I grow in 100% composted manure. I ammend it as one would soil... but that's about it. The hay that is in the poo makes for amazing drainage like I've never seen. So there is no use for perlite etc. And the farmer I get it from added tons of red wigglers...so no need to add worm castings because it's already in the mix

I used to have horses and found you could use straight manure for seedlings but never considered using it for a long term potting mix.

Cow actually. As long as it is aged (and has no smell) it is composted properly and is not hot at all. It is light and fluffy...full of tons of micro beasties, along with other wonderful properties. If you did a side by side using soil in one and composted manure in the other...trust me brother...you would never ever go back

P.s. plus it is cheap as can be. I get 5000 gallons for 300$ so between the nutes that run me 250 and the manure...The cost of seeds and the cheap cost materials that I am using for my boxes basically I am looking at about $65 a plant.
But when you are looking at 4-5+ pounds a plant....well....you do that math lol

In NY I would have probably had similar results. Here in Colorado the salt content of cow manure is to high.

Lol thanks...but just to let you know...you can wash manure. Or like me make sure the manure is aged about 4 yrs and that is outside in a pile that gets rain. Organic farms are usually best to go to

Around here puddles leave salt stains and you can visibly see the salt lines along creeks and waterways. Saline content is the biggest battle with fixing our soil. So for me it's mostly plant matter when it comes to adding organic material. I did add some cow manure to the compost piles before I learned about the salt content.
